The primary role of a Building Automation Estimator is to analyze project specifications, drawings, and scope documents to develop accurate and competitive cost estimates for building automation systems, including controls, wiring, and integration, ensuring alignment with technical requirements, client expectations, and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor public and private project tender sites and proactively identify upcoming opportunities.
Attend site meetings, client meetings, and coordinate with the Construction Administrator to ensure schedules, deadlines, and deliverables are met.
Review and interpret project tender documentation, including drawings, specifications, and addendums, to develop complete and accurate estimates.
Coordinate with management to review project scope, identify potential risks, challenges, or delays, and propose mitigation strategies.
Solicit, evaluate, and coordinate supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure competitive and comprehensive pricing.
Communicate and collaborate effectively with engineers, contractors, and clients to confirm design intent, scope accuracy, and estimate alignment.
Prepare, estimate, and confidently tender automation proposals to clients and trade partners in a timely and professional manner.
Manage all tender revisions, including addendums and scope changes, ensuring updated submissions are accurate and on schedule.
Maintain strict adherence to project estimate deadlines and keep the project team informed of progress and potential impacts.
Upon award, prepare and submit project initiation forms, material requisitions, and procurement requests for A-materials and site materials.
Maintain accountability for all materials ordered, ensuring proper inventory control and documentation.
Coordinate, organize, and direct multiple project tenders concurrently from inception through completion while upholding company standards and accuracy.
Qualifications
Proven experience in construction estimating, with a strong understanding of construction processes and terminology.
Demonstrated ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs and develop detailed cost estimates.
Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
Experience in project management within the construction industry is a plus.
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail to ensure precise estimates that support profitable projects.
