Fowler Construction is actively seeking an

Estimating Manager

to provide leadership and oversee the estimating process for various infrastructure projects. As a leader on the estimating team, you will play an important role mentoring, supporting, and driving both the accuracy of bids and successful results for this department. This role is integral to maximizing profitability while ensuring sustainable success in bidding.

Key Responsibilities



Manage and oversee the detailed development, presentation, and submission of cost estimates for designated projects. Lead tender closings, ensuring compliance with all bid requirements. Identify and pursue bidding opportunities through industry networking, online platforms, and direct client engagement. Manage private/commercial opportunities, providing budgets, estimates and in negotiating the closing of "the deal". Review and fully understand project specifications and drawings, ensuring all tendering notices are incorporated. Develop multiple estimates simultaneously, adhering to project deadlines. Assess constructability and risk while developing bids Provide scope of work, preliminary designs, present solutions for unsophisticated clients. Solicit and manage subcontractor and supplier RFQs, ensuring clarity and timely responses. Identify and clarify potential conflicts or vague specifications in contract documents. Present completed estimates to project management team and senior management for review and strategy alignment. Organize kickoff meetings for awarded contracts, ensuring smooth project handovers. Attend job progress meetings to stay informed of project developments. Assist project managers with technical and pricing matters post-tender. Maintain client relationships with project owners, administrators, subcontractors, and suppliers. Participate in job completion reviews to improve future estimating accuracy. Contribute to yearly budget forecasts for potential construction projects. Mentor and support junior estimators and or coordinators, fostering their professional growth. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Key Skills & Qualifications



Civil Engineering Technologist or Bachelor of Engineering (Civil preferred). 10+ years of experience in estimating municipal, MTO, or private highway/infrastructure projects. Previous field and leadership experience is an asset. Experience using B2W or similar software is an asset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, etc.). Requires strong interpersonal and negotiation skill. Ability to manage multiple concurrent tenders while overseeing estimating staff. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively. Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently. High level of professionalism, personal integrity, and reliability. Valid driver's license required.

Work Conditions



Travel to various project sites as required. Work in both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying weather conditions. Some weekend and evening work may be required.
