Summary

Job Title: Equipment Trainer

Location: Wolverine Mine

Schedule / Terms of Employment: 12-hour shifts, (7 days on / 7 days off)

Primary Purpose

Responsible to provide subject matter expertise and support in achieving training objectives. The Trainer leads/participates in developing the training components to support the implementation, maintenance and improvement of the Conuma Training Plans.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participates and maintains a positive and supportive work culture.
  • Work directly with site leadership to identify additional training opportunities.
  • Assess training needs for new and existing employees.
  • Support new employee and contractor orientation programs. Completes all sign offs and documentation.
  • Assists with development of training aids such as manuals and handbooks.
  • Facilitate learning based on site requirements through a variety of delivery methods including classroom instruction, hands-on training, on-the-job coaching, and virtual or computer-based training.
  • Liaise with all departments to develop, maintain, and present Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Work with Site Training Coordinator to evaluate and continuously improve training material and methodology.
  • Design and apply assessment tools to measure training effectiveness.
  • Review operations at work site to confirm compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, and site-specific procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum 8 years experience as Heavy Equipment Operator
  • 2 years experience as a Heavy Equipment Trainer (preferred)
  • Experience as a trainer or experience operating all kinds of equipment is a must.
  • Knowledge of adult instructional and learning theory and principles
  • Knowledge of instructional design
  • Knowledge of training methodologies
  • Knowledge of learning management systems
  • Knowledge of competency assessment
Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in MS Office programs; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Learning Management Systems, etc.
  • Ability to Provide training to site employees in the proper use of various types of heavy-duty equipment at the work site (Dozers, Excavators, Shovels, Loaders, Haul Trucks, etc.).
  • Ability to Deliver training to site employees
  • Ability to Assess qualifications and on-the-job training of all new employees prior to operating heavy equipment and sign off on skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Organized and has attention to detail.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Comfortable with public speaking for large groups.
