Job Description

The incumbent facilitates, administers, and coordinates the operations of the equipment service centres for most of the programs within the Faculty of Animation, Arts and Design (FAAD). The incumbent curates, develops and disseminates procedures and policies to provide equipment-related support for the students\' curricular and co-curricular activities.

They are also responsible for providing data consultations regarding equipment usages and support for budgeting purposes to the Associate Deans of FAAD and provides information regarding asset inventory and distribution of equipment. The position requires a high degree of technical problem-solving ability, dexterity, and knowledge of appropriate hardware, software, and all specialized equipment for programs in the media cluster.

The incumbent ensures safe work procedures for handling equipment by students, staff, and faculty, and oversees part-time employees and work-study students working in the Central Equipment, and ensures effective coverage at the counter, based on curriculum and student needs.

What You\'ll be Doing

  • Administering and providing day-to-day supervision of all equipment handlings
  • Responsible for equipment sign in/out by students and faculty for classes and workshops for inventory control and updating associated records
  • Analyzes problems and provides recommendations on necessary repairs, servicing and/or upgrades; coordinates maintenance and repair/upgrade activities
  • Troubleshoots database errors and system glitches for employees
  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures for student use of programs\' equipment.
  • Supervises and evaluates the work of OWSP (Ontario Work Study Plan) students assigned to support their work in the equipment service centres
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications:
  • 3-year diploma/degree in Media Arts, Broadcast, TV, Film Production or related field of study
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience n the field of film, television, journalism, and/or photography (Equivalency will be considered)
  • Experience with production and postproduction equipment as well within database management, electrical safety and occupational health and safety.
  • Computer literacy, digital workflow and familiarity with appropriate software and server managers is required.
