Job Description

Responsibilities



The successful candidate is part of a functional work group responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and preparing the factory and equipment for daily production. They are completely familiar with the operation of the factory and the specific requirements of each product. Adherence to all factory rules, especially those pertaining to safe chemical handling, lock-out tag-out procedures, and guarding are integral to the job.

Major Duties of the Position:



1. Disassembly of food processing equipment, effectively clean and sanitize.

2. Cleaning of all food processing and packaging equipment as per established procedures.

3. Cleaning of building environment as per the established schedules.

4. Disposal of non-recyclable and recyclable waste.

5. Re-assembly of equipment to operational readiness.

6. Accurate completion of report, logs and testing.

7. Assist with routine preventative maintenance program as defined by the Maintenance department.

8. Maintain a safe and clean workstation. Adhere to Health & Safety regulations.

9. Ensure compliance with all existing and new SOP's, Audits, GMP and HACCP requirements.

10. Actively support and initiate continuous improvements and demonstrate professionalism.

11. Live safety as a value in practice through responsibility of self-action

12. Care for the Environment by actively seeking out ways to eliminate waste of natural resources and by properly recycling any waste that cannot be avoided.

13. Be actively engaged through participation in the "Caring Through Feedback" practice of encouraging safe behaviours and challenging at-risk behaviours with peers and coworkers.

14. Other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications:



Grade 12 education. Mechanical aptitude / able to use mechanical tools and demonstrate troubleshooting skills. Experience in preparation / packaging and casing operations would be an asset. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Train on chemical handling and equipment operation maintaining a high degree of competency in these areas. Successfully complete the Walkie lift truck training and maintain a clean driving record.

Working Conditions:



Physical Effort:

- Lifting 25-50lbs occasionally, +50lbs with assistance.

- Range of motion - floor to above shoulder

- Walking/standing continuously

- Pushing/pulling 200lbs occasionally

Physical Environment

- Exposure to 80-95dB with PPE

- Wet/slippery floors

- Temperatures 40-90 degrees F.

- Exposure to caustic and acidic cleaning agents (PPE provided and mandatory).

- Medium
