Position Details
TITLE: Equipment Operator II - FT
DEPARTMENT: Municipal Services Department
CURRENT RATE OF PAY: $39.11 plus benefits
HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week, shift work and overtime as required including evenings/weekends
General Statement Of Duties
The incumbent is responsible for carrying out instructions as required within the Streets Division of the Municipal Services Department.
Supervision
The incumbent is responsible to the Director of Municipal Services under the direction of the Manager of Public Works and Streets Foreman and/or designate.
Major Duties And Responsibilities
All work and manual labour associated with the operation and maintenance of streets, sidewalks and lanes within the Streets Division.
Shall be willing to work within the safety guidelines as established by the City.
Shall be willing to respond to call-out for emergency maintenance and repair work at short notice and work in inclement weather conditions.
Shall be required to work shift work as scheduled and overtime as required.
May be required to participate as a member of the Municipal Services Standby Group - On call rotation.
Responsible for assisting in the training of new employees to familiarize them with Municipal work.
Required to be trained and work at the Williams Lake Airport.
Other duties as may be assigned to assist with the City's day to day operations.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Minimum Grade XII or equivalent.
Shall possess a valid B.C. Driver's Licence - Class 3 with Air Endorsement.
Shall have a minimum of 2 years previous experience in Municipal streets maintenance or related streets maintenance work.
Shall be proficient and safely operate the following equipment within the Streets Division:
All equipment associated with Equipment Operator I position plus the following:
Loader / includes front end of Backhoe
street sweeper
flail mower
tandem axel truck / including sand/salt equipment
Shall be capable of understanding, reporting verbally and by written report in English and accept and comprehend verbal instructions.
Shall undertake additional training in the correct operation of other equipment and to upgrade skills and abilities.
Shall have the ability work with others as a team.
