Environmental Technician
to join our growing McIlvenna Bay team. This is a full-time position based at the McIlvenna Bay site working a 14/14 rotation.
This is a Temporary position from April to November, with the possibility of extension.
The McIlvenna Bay Cu-Zn-Au-Ag deposit is one of the largest undeveloped VHMS deposits in Canada. Foran recently announced (2024) approval by the Board of Directors for the project to proceed to the formal construction phase with initial production expected in Q4 2025. The McIlvenna Bay deposit's core commodities are critical for the global transition to green energy and Foran aims to extract these critical minerals in a sustainable manner by empowering local communities, contributing to circular economies and protecting the environment for future generations.
As part of the ESG Team, the
Environmental Technician
is responsible for supporting environmental management, monitoring and environmental compliance efforts for the McIlvenna Bay Project.
Job Responsibilities:
Execute the environmental monitoring program including monitoring of construction, operations, water supply, untreated and treated water and aspects of the environment including surface water (quality and quantity), groundwater (quality and quantity), air quality, soil quality, vegetation and weeds, wetlands, woodland caribou and wildlife
+ Ensure appropriate supply of equipment, instruments and materials for monitoring including sampling materials/ inventory for safe execution of the environmental monitoring program
+ Operate, maintain and calibrate environmental monitoring equipment and instruments
+ Appropriately prepare and submit and track samples for analysis Execute the environmental inspection program including routine inspections and routine audits to assess environmental compliance
Implement site environmental management and protection plans, procedures and guidelines for environmental protection and compliance, including spill response
Maintain accurate environmental monitoring and inspection records.
Work with site departments to facilitate environmental conformance and compliance
Assist in entering, analyzing and reporting environmental data
Assist in researching and interpreting environmental compliance requirements
Assist in the preparation of environmental compliance reports and documentation for regulatory agencies.
Assist in conducting internal environmental investigations, audits and assessments.
Adhere to safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during fieldwork.
Promote a culture of safety and environmental awareness within the organization.
Job Qualifications and Skills:
Diploma in environmental science, environmental technology, or a related field or equivalent level of experience and certification in environmental monitoring
Proficiency in using environmental monitoring equipment, instruments and software tools.
Proficiency in operating and maintaining boats, UTV, snowmobile is preferred.
Valid driver's license
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Ability to work both independently and in a team, often in remote or outdoor settings.
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary range of $70,000 - $87,500/year based on experience and qualifications. Please note that this is a temporary position, and the salary will be reflected as such.
