Under the direction of the Facility Manager the Environmental Services Worker is expected to be an active staff member and serve those with diverse abilities within the Mission, Vision and Values of the organization, our Philosophy of Care and adhere to our workplace policies. The Environmental Service Worker maintains an environment which ensures the health, safety and welfare of the persons served, staff, and visitors of Balsam. The ESW provides a high standard of service that promotes infection control, and a tidy, clean-living environment for the comfort of the persons served living at Balsam.
Responsibilities
Utilize appropriate cleaning techniques and equipment to ensure high standards of cleanliness
Follow established protocols for infection control and safety procedures
Conduct floor care activities such as sweeping, mopping, buffing, and waxing as needed
Dispose of waste materials properly and ensure recycling practices are followed.
Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and report any shortages or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor
Perform general cleaning of the facility as per environmental policies
Store equipment, chemicals, cleaning agents and supplies safely and ensure all controlled products have the correct workplace label according to WHMIS
Maintain current knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and use products as per manufacturer instructions. All chemicals must be mixed according to supplier directions to ensure correct dilution rates for safe and economical use,
Requirements
Grade 12 or equivalent
A combination of education, training, and related work experience will be considered
WHMIS certificate or willing to obtain
Must be able to lift 35lbs.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions accurately.
Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
A commitment to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation within the facility.

Pay: From $17.96 per hour
