Environmental Performance Specialist

What you'll do
Leads and facilitates environmental incident investigations. Co-ordinates resourcing and work of investigation team.
Compiles evidence to identify causes of incidents and may consult subject matter experts if required. Prepares investigation
reports with input from investigation team for distribution. As the Environmental Performance (EP) Investigation Lead acts
as the subject matter expert in the development of corrective action plans (CAP). Consults and obtains acceptance with
CAP owners. Tracks and follows-up with CAP owners on progress if required. Audits effectiveness of corrective actions
upon completion and implementation.
Project management of environmental audit programs by: preparing audit terms of references (TORs); administering
contract work; ensuring compliance with TORs and deliverables are met; and publishing final audit reports and corrective
actions.
Project management of Environmental Compliance Evaluations (ECE) by: providing input into annual program; preparing
ECE related documentation, budgets and TORs; co-ordinating resourcing and logistics for site visits; compiling evidence
through interviews, documentation and site observations; working with responsible managers to develop CAPs as required;
preparing and distributing reports; and following-up with CAP owners on progress if required.
Ensures technical data accuracy in the Environmental Incident Management System (EIMS) by: reviewing environmental
incident data for completeness and engaging with relevant parties to clarify and rectify discrepancies as necessary; and
providing guidance to users on incident reporting and data input requirements to ensure data integrity.
Acts as the Environment training program lead by: maintaining training course inventory, content and guideline
requirements with Environment content owners and Training Services; ensuring changes in regulations or internal
processes are updated in course content; leading course development projects to prioritize work; co-ordinating work with
vendors and content owners; tracking workplans and budgets; and recommending solutions to resolve issues.
Prepares and distributes environmental and business performance reports for management and enterprise-wide monthly
communications on priority incidents and relevant messaging.
Sustains environmental data management/analytics by: developing and maintaining databases, statistical spreadsheets
and analytical tools; participating in the development of data collection and analytical procedures and frameworks; and
monitoring data collection and reporting processes to ensure consistency and standardization.
Reviews vendor and contractor invoices for accuracy and flags discrepancies for corrections. Pre-approves vendor and
contractor invoices for payment prior to management approval.
Oversees the maintenance of content and document management of environmental information guidelines/procedures.
Develops and maintains documents or works with Environment document owners to ensure content has been reviewed
prior to publishing.
Prepares and presents complex and sensitive reports on assigned projects to senior managers, the Board and/or other
stakeholders.
Identifies, gathers, evaluates and suggests system/application improvements to enhance data collection and reporting.
Resolves user system issues and escalates to IT Support for resolution. Carries out user acceptance testing to ensure
functional and operational requirements are met.
Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties that do not affect the rating of the job.
What you bring
Diploma in Environmental Studies or in a related discipline.
Four (4) years of experience in an environmental job where experience has been gained with conducting environmental
reporting, compliance audits and incident investigations.
ISO 14001 Internal Auditor or Lead Internal Auditor Certification or ECO Canada Compliance Environmental Auditor or
Environmental Management Systems Lead Auditor considered assets.
Demonstrated experience using reporting and data analytics tools/software will be an asset.
Must hold a valid class five (5) driver's license.
