who's passionate about sustainability and safety. This role is responsible for ensuring that our construction activities comply with environmental regulations, minimize ecological impact, and promote responsible development.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the development, implementation, and updates of environmental protection plans, including the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) and Environmental Procedures.
Prepare clear, timely environmental monitoring reports and compliance documentation
Coordinate with regulatory and environmental agencies, including for compliance reporting and environmental approvals
Support or lead fish and wildlife salvage operations, including securing necessary permits.
Oversee sediment and erosion control measures to proactively protect the environment.
Conduct water quality sampling, analysis, and monitoring as required
Attend key project meetings to advise on and represent environmental considerations
Be on-site during work in Environmentally Sensitive Areas to oversee and guide environmental compliance, especially during: in-stream works (e.g., sediment control, riprap placement, excavation below the High-Water Mark), activities near or within critical habitats or around listed species, and concrete pours or grouting operations in and around water bodies.
Collaborate with the construction team to integrate environmental procedures into day-to-day operations
Work collaboratively with the Ministry Representative to ensure environmental commitments are met and maintained.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Qualifications
A qualified applied scientist or technologist in a relevant field (e.g., biology, geology, agrology, engineering, erosion and sediment control, hydrogeology, landscape architecture, etc.)
2+ years of relevant experience in environmental monitoring or environmental management in a construction or infrastructure context.
Experience preparing and implementing environmental protection plans (e.g., CEMPs) and supporting regulatory approvals
Field experience with erosion and sediment control, water quality monitoring, and/or fish and wildlife salvage
Excellent documentation and communication abilities.
Comfortable working independently in outdoor environments and environmentally sensitive areas
Valid driver's license
Desirable Qualifications
Experience working in or around highways, streams, or sensitive habitats
Familiarity with environmental monitoring tools

Pay:
$60,000 - $80,000 per year
