Its track-record to date includes more than 490 km of tunnels, 19,200 km of roads (including 4,000 km of highways), 4,700 km of railroad lines (including 700 km of high-speed railroads) and 27,350 km of road maintenance and repair.Project Description: The Ontario Line South Civil Project is responsible for the design, construction and handover of all tunnels, stations and civil works between Exhibition Station and a portal location within the Don Yard. This includes, without limitation, seven Stations (one at grade and six underground stations), 6 km of Tunnels, a range of civil works and ancillary building works, and successful handover of the constructed South Civil Contract assets to the Sponsors.Position Description:The Environmental Manager of Ontario Line Southern Project is responsible for managing the compliance with the Project Governmental Approvals throughout the Term as well as ensuring the day-to-day implementation of the environmental and sustainability obligations required.ResponsibilitiesEnsure that specific environmental submittal meets the Comprehensive Agreement requirements and that the requirements set forth in the Governmental Approvals are incorporated into the Design and Build of the Project;Coordination of inter-disciplinary requirements within the various Sub-consultants or member of the Environmental Team (i.e. Environmental Specialists, Environmental Inspectors, Hazardous Materials personnel);Review environmental submittals from Sub-consultants prior to issue for construction;Obtain Governmental Approvals;Check and oversee the environmental submittals prepared by the Sub-consultants for incorporating into the Works, to be delivered within the defined schedule and specified requirements;Provide reports as specified in the D&B Contract, Project Agreement (PA) Schedule #17, PA Schedule #14, PA Schedule #34 and PA Schedule #44;Establishing and maintaining working relationships with relevant Governmental Authorities and Stakeholders in cooperation with the Contracting Authority Representative;Ensuring effective operation of the Environmental Management System on a day-to-day basis;Ensuring effective operation of the Sustainability Management Plan on an ongoing basis;Ensuring environmental and sustainability issues are addressed and requirements are met in accordance with the Environmental Reference Documents, Additional Environmental Reports and the Project Agreement; andEnsuring effective development, tracking and monitoring of environmental and sustainability metrics in line with best practice standardsOther DutiesSupervise/manage/direct the selection, training, development, appraisal and work assignments of personnelComply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human ResourcesProvide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skillRequirementsAt least ten (10) years of work-related experience on projects of similar size;A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in planning, environmental planning, geography or another related discipline;Knowledge of the Province of Ontario\xe2\x80\x99s Transit Project Assessment Process, GO Transit Class EA Document, and Environmental Assessment Act (Ontario);Experience in successfully managing all Environmental Aspects of transit projects in the Province of Ontario;Knowledge of relevant federal and provincial environmental policies, procedures and legislation;Experience liaising with other specialty consultants, contractors and Governmental Authorities; andExperience with similar projects in the Province of Ontario.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documentsAbility to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business communityAbility to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and formatAbility to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directorsAbility to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusionsProficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.Prioritize, organize, and delegate assignments.Note: The Statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and levels of work performed by employees, but are not a complete list of responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified.
