As an Environmental I (cleaner/housekeeper), you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine tasks associated with the cleaning and disinfecting of clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments including patient rooms, operating rooms, staff areas, and public areas. Your typical duties may include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, changing privacy and window curtains and linen replenishment, restocking supplies, moving and staging equipment. At all times you work efficiently and with the highest standards of excellence and safety.

Description:

As an Environmental I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine tasks associated with the cleaning and disinfecting of clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments. Your typical duties may include sweeping, mopping and vacuuming, restocking supplies in bathroom facilities and, stripping linen and remaking beds. This includes replenishing cleaning supplies and linens and identifying and reporting potential hazards to your Working Leader.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Knowledge and operation of a computer including Microsoft Office. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and perform repetitive movements for the duration of your shift. Physically capable to lift, push and pull up to 22 lbs of force. Additional Required Qualifications:

Must be physically fit, able to lift heavy loads (up to 22.5kg), able to push/pull wheeled heavy carts (up to and occasionally exceeding 225kg), squat, bend, climb ladders, reach in all directions (overhead work required) and stand/walk for long periods of time. Previous hospital cleaning experience and knowledge of hospital equipment and procedures. Must be fluent in English, both spoken and written. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, able to follow oral and written instruction. Excellent interpersonal skills. Basic computer skills an asset. Knowledge of AHS systems (Insite, MyLearningLink, e-people, My Safety Net). Current WHMIS certification. Must be dependable, thorough and be able to work with minimal supervision. Demonstrated dependability and reliability. Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with previous Environmental Services experience at AHS. Strong computer skills an asset.
