is adding an

Environmental Health & Safety Advisor!



This roleensures compliance with federal, provincial and/or local safety and environmental standards and regulations, develops policies, assists with training, leads audits, and supports a strong safety culture committed to continuous improvement and sustainability. We're looking for someone who is comfortable on the production floor, presenting to large groups and performing detailed/administrative tasks.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

:

Manage the site's environmental and safety reporting and ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory frameworks. Evaluate and maintain health and safety programs, policies, and SOP's; implement new or changing regulations Monitor and maintain compliance through inspections, audits, and safety assessments. Maintain and update SDS, EHS bulletin boards, oversee first aid room/kits, inspection logs and related tasks and training records (with HR) Analyze Health and Safety metrics, identify trends, and drive improvement plans Support, participate and act as the JHSC Secretary; lead the health and safety program and meetings in collaboration with others; promote communication at the local level. Actively engage with employees on the production floor, address concerns, foster a culture of well-being and seek out opportunities to improve the safety culture. Perform safety and environmental audits and inspect facilities, machinery, and equipment to identify and address potential hazards Provide technical assistance in risk assessment, safe work systems, and operational decision-making to ensure compliance and regulatory requirements. Develop communication plans for H&S programs and activities and facilitate ongoing updates and awareness. Develop site-specific Emergency Response/preparedness plans Work with HR on WSIB claims management; develop RTW plans and manage the database input and reporting at the local site
Environmental sustainability

Monitor environmental compliance related to waste disposal, recycling, and emissions; identify opportunities for waste reduction at source and recycling. Support environmental reporting and sustainability initiatives. Implement environmental solutions and drive changes in manufacturing processes/systems leading to a reduction in environmental waste streams Ensure that certificates of authorization and other environmental permits are up to date. Assist with environmental management (raw and residual materials, water and electricity consumption, etc.);
Program/Plan development, training and reporting

Promote employee engagement through toolbox talks, safety meetings, and awareness campaigns. Conduct job hazard analyses, risk assessments, and physical demand analyses Lead or support accident/incident investigations, analyze trends in near-misses and incidents; recommend and implement corrective/preventive actions based on root cause analysis Facilitate and track training in safety processes and practices, onboarding, new initiatives and injury and accident avoidance Provide project support for corporate EH&S initiatives Oversee the plant's safety and industrial hygiene programs (e.g. hearing conservation plan) and ensure compliance with internal and external safety and health regulations and policies Lead the plant ergonomics program including conducting assessments using industry-standard methods. Develop and deliver H&S training based on legislative requirements and trend analysis. Collect and analyze statistical data pertaining to the plant's safety and health program. Prepare reports to support various health and safety initiatives. Participate in Company health & safety initiatives to ensure site representation, inclusion, and consistency.

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:



5+ years' experience in a similar role in a manufacturing or industrial setting-print or packaging industry an asset. University degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management or closely related field, or an equivalent combination of experience and training. Valid JHSC level 1 & 2 certification and current First Aid certificate Certified Health and Safety Professional, e.g. CRSP or CHSC required or in progress. Strong computer proficiency, specifically using MS Office (Word, Excel, Office, PPT, etc.), and other reporting and tracking systems Co-operative self-starter with excellent organization skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to partner with all departments/employees with the intent to influence and implement all aspects of maintaining a strong safety culture. Effective verbal, written and analytical skills with experience in incident investigation, record keeping and reporting; strong project management skills. Thorough knowledge of applicable regulations and standards such as OHSA and other related environmental sustainability, compliance and/or Health and Safety legislation
