LOCATION: BC Manufacturing Plants - Occasional travel to Guelph, Ontario Plant
We are seeking a motivated Environmental Health Safety Specialist (EHS) to support our expanding operations across multiple manufacturing sites and our head office in British Columbia. Reporting to the EHS Manager, you will help implement and maintain our Safety Management System (SMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and drive regulatory compliance. Your work will help us advance toward COR certification, strengthen ESG efforts, and create a safer, more sustainable workplace.

CHARACTER & ABILITIES
You have a strong working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations in particular WorkSafeBC and Ontario Occupational Health and Safety and have successfully applied them in industrial settings.
With experience in Safety Management Systems, COR (OSSE) processes, and environmental permitting,
You are confident conducting audits, training teams, supporting investigations, and driving continuous improvement.

YOUR IMPACT WILL INCLUDE:
Supporting execution of our 5-year safety and environmental strategy.
Driving day-to-day compliance with WorkSafeBC and environmental regulations.
Coaching frontline leaders and employees on safe work practices and hazard awareness.
Conducting inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
Assisting with COR (OSSE) audit readiness and EMS maintenance.
Supporting waste management, permitting, and environmental reporting efforts.
Helping foster a proactive and inclusive safety culture across union and non-union teams.
Collaborating with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and People & Culture to embed EHS into daily business practices.
Tracking and analyzing EHS data to identify trends and improve performance.
EXPERIENCE
3-5 years of experience in EHS roles, ideally in manufacturing
Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC OHSR and environmental compliance
Experience with COR (OSSE), SMS/EMS programs, audits, and investigations
Comfortable coaching frontline and cross-functional teams
Proficient in Microsoft Office and EHS management software
NICE-TO-HAVE
Experience supporting ESG reporting, RTW coordination, or industrial hygiene programs
Knowledge of JSA/SWP development and safety culture initiatives
Familiarity with lean or continuous improvement in safety settings
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Role requires regular weekly travel between sites between Burnaby, Delta and Port Coquitlam BC, and 6x per year to Guelph, Ontario
Occasional evening or off-shift work may be required to support projects

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
As the Environmental Health Safety Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the development and implementation of safety and environmental systems while ensuring day-to-day compliance across manufacturing sites. Your work will focus on coaching, engagement, regulatory alignment, and building a proactive EHS culture in collaboration with site leadership, frontline teams, and cross-functional departments.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Support execution of the 5-year Environmental Health and Safety strategy across three BC facilities.
Lead site inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
Ensure compliance with local Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Regulators and Permit compliance.
Develop and maintain safety documentation, reports, and training records.
Deliver and coach frontline safety training, including JSAs and LOTO.
Contribute to COR (OSSE) certification and environmental reporting.
Collaborate across departments to integrate EHS into daily operations.
Engage workers and support a proactive, inclusive safety culture.
Track EHS metrics, support continuous improvement, and align with strategic goals.

Pay: $72,000.00-$78,000.00 per year
