This role ensures compliance with all Provicial, Federal and industry regulations, and promotes a culture of safety within the workplace. This position requires travel between all locations in Ontario, majority of locations are in the greater Toronto area.

Director of Environmental Health and Safety
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Develop and Implement EHS Programs:
Create and maintain comprehensive EHS programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with OHSA, CFIA, CCOHS and other relevant regulations. Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and mitigate risks.
Training and Education:
Develop and deliver training programs for employees on EHS topics, including hazard communication, emergency response, and safe work practices.
Incident Investigation:
Lead investigations of workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses. Identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Risk Assessment:
Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses to identify potential hazards and implement control measures.
Environmental Management:
Oversee waste management, pollution prevention, and sustainability initiatives. Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
Emergency Preparedness:
Develop and maintain emergency response plans. Coordinate drills and training exercises to ensure readiness.
Reporting and Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of EHS activities, incidents, and compliance efforts. Prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies.
Continuous Improvement:
Promote a culture of continuous improvement in EHS practices. Stay current with industry trends and best practices.
Collaboration:
Work with Quality Assurance, Quality control and Food Safety teams at all locations for training and investigations

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years or equivalent combined years of experience in EHS roles, with supervisory experience preferred.
Certifications:
Canada Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or similar certifications are highly desirable.

Strong knowledge of EHS (OHSA and/or CCOHS) regulations and standards, excellent communication and training skills, ability to lead and motivate teams, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
