Through environmental engineering, geoscience, and ecology we delve into and solve problems over wide ranging scales and with a broad geographic coverage.
Responsibilities:
Complete daily field inspections within an active construction zone
Works closely with the construction administrator and other inspectors
Monitor, log and report on contractors\xe2\x80\x99 compliance with the environmental and community requirements of the Project
Inputs, maintains and summarizes data and information in databases and reports
Inspection and recording of site activities as per the tender documents, drawings and specifications
Assist in verifying the quantities removed in field
Attend site meetings, where required, and take minutes of the meeting
Qualifications:
Post-secondary degree with a major in engineering, ecology, biology or environmental studies or construction management and monitoring
Knowledge of working with standards, specifications, and materials associated with tree removals, laws and regulations including environmental (e.g. Migratory Bird Convention Act, Fisheries Act, wildlife protection, Forestry Act and Endangered Species Act), WHMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Waste Management regulations, Occupational Health & Safety requirements and their application
Minimum 2 years of prior experience with environmental inspection during construction
Experience working on Transit projects or within a rail corridor an asset
Experience and ability working in rough terrain and in inclement weather
Ability to work independently
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to compile field data into summary reports
Detail oriented, professional and confident
Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel)
Proficient in GIS is an asset
Valid driver\'s license and access to a reliable vehicle
Metrolinx Personal Track Safety (PTS) certification is an asset
