After comprehensive training and achieving your designation as a Provincial Officer, you will:
Conduct detailed inspections on your own, check if rules are followed, and write reports for different programs.
Respond to environmental incidents, follow up to ensure rules are followed, and report on possible environmental impacts, particularly those in relation to the mining sector and pulp and paper industry.
Find, study, and solve complex environmental problems, including when the causes aren't clear.
Give authoritative advice on environmental laws.
Suggest fixes or legal actions and make sure compliance programs are followed.
Testify in court and issue official orders.
Maintain good communication with relevant parties, the public, and clients.

Mandatory requirements
The position requires the successful candidate to have a valid class G driver's license or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional on the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's license before being hired.

Specialized Knowledge and Experience:
You can interpret and apply environmental legislation, regulations, policies, procedures, guidelines and quality standards to assess and promote regulatory compliance.
You have knowledge of environmental sciences, technology and protection including:
o Pollution sources and controls for stationary and mobile sources
o Spills contamination impacts and clean-up responsibilities
o Water treatment processes (drinking water and wastewater)
o Actions required to address adverse water quality incidents
o Sample collection and field measurement equipment and techniques
o Indicators of impacts to human health, flora/fauna and the natural environment
