About Our Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Policy and Planning, the Environmental Analyst position provides comprehensive policy support and advice in the administration of the regulatory framework for Environment and Climate Change. The position undertakes policy research and analysis and applies proactive and innovative approaches to problem solving. They take a lead role in the design and implementation of department-wide and divisional initiatives that improve effectiveness, increase consistency, and contribute to continuous improvement of regulatory programs.

Primary Accountabilities

The position leads or participates in committees of departmental and/or non-departmental professionals to support ongoing management of the department's regulatory framework. They work closely with staff at all levels within the department as well as with staff from other departments. This position provides policy support for: project design, planning, management, tracking and reporting; jurisdictional research and analysis; stakeholder consultation process design and implementation; policy proposal development (including discussion papers, reports, presentations, briefing and communications materials on proposed legislative/regulatory/policy reforms); and legislative and regulatory proposal coordination (including closely working with department of Justice legal staff, and drafting submissions to Executive Council.)

Qualifications and Experience

You have a post-secondary degree in a related field and a minimum of 2 years' related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

As the successful candidate, you will have significant experience and demonstrated skills in policy research and analysis and the preparation of recommendations, briefing materials and supporting documents.

You will possess the ability to think conceptually, to grasp and apply highly technical information on many topics, and to develop practical and effective solutions to an extensive range of issues falling within the department's broad mandate.

In this role, you must demonstrate excellent project design and project management skills and possess a good understanding of the operation and management of government.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, sound judgement and a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment are key within this position, as well as the ability to work with minimal direct supervision. Lastly, as the successful candidate, you will have great time management skills and an ability to balance numerous priorities.

Pay Grade: PR 10 - PR 15

Salary Range: $2,185.90 - $3,250.64 Bi-Weekly
