The Environmental Superintendent is responsible for assisting our employees and contractors to advance the KSM Project. This would include advising construction crews of Federal and Provincial permits and compliance requirements, construction environmental best management practices and ensure an overall responsible environmental project. A willingness to research and learn a diverse field of scientific knowledge is required.

Key responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Working two (2) weeks on and two (2) weeks off, provide KSM environment culture and oversight in the field.
  • Respond to requests from the construction crews related to items on how to proceed, including how to guide, respond, and support daily construction activities.
  • Verify and ensure compliance to Federal and Provincial permit conditions and appropriate legislation in coordination with Compliance Manager.
  • Interface with construction, including review of construction plans and implementation of construction plans.
  • Implementation of management plans in coordination with the Environment Manager.
  • Weekly reports for the KPIs and internal reporting requirements.
  • Follow up of compliance events.
  • Draft external reports.
  • Supervise environmental coordinators and environmental monitors.
  • Ensure safety and coordination of multiple environmental crews, including completion of environmental program objectives.
Basic Job Requirements
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of environmental permitting and compliance experience related to mining, forestry or energy projects in British Columbia
  • Experience in sediment and erosion control best management practices
  • Experience in construction activities and oversight of environmental practices
  • Bachelor's degree in science or related discipline
  • R.P.Bio, P.Biol. P.Eng., or equivalent registration with a professional regulatory body
Strong interpersonal, management and leadership skills required. Flexible team player, willing and able to work on a wide variety of tasks.
