Position Overview

By joining Cognizant as an IT Service Desk Engineer, you will be responsible for working within the Cloud, Infrastructure & Security practice to provide professional and technical support for clients across all industries and their systems and networks in the following areas: general system administration, network administration, cloud administration, and end user systems and application support. This is a client-facing role & the candidate will have regular interactions with various client managers.

You will take on challenges to deliver technology innovation, and design and implement solutions impacting our clients\xe2\x80\x99 business and IT imperatives.

Responsibilities

Serve as break/fix technician for a wide variety of user technologies in the related practices and respond to client support requests by contacting them to find the nature of the problem.

Traveling and working out of client location or connecting via a remote link.

Troubleshooting and resolving complex network security incidents, to include packet capture and analysis, log review, and critical thinking.

Troubleshooting hardware and software issues; as well as networking and connection issues.

Installing, maintaining, and advising on software, hardware, and computer peripherals (i.e., upgrading operating systems and computer software).

Provide basic training in computer operation and management.

Complete job reports.

Work closely with client project managers and other architects to develop customized security solutions.

Maintain systems by monitoring, identifying, and correcting software defects.

Apply technical skills to recommend, implement, support, improve, and operate information protection technologies with limited supervision.

Qualifications

Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or equivalent. Preferred majors include: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems majors with concentration in network security, cybersecurity.

Experience reviewing system and application logs (e.g., web or mail server logs), either to investigate security issues or complex operational issues.

Demonstrable knowledge in investigating security issues within Cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, Azure.

Strong interest in learning the latest exploits, tactics, techniques and procedures, vulnerability remediation and security trends in Cloud implementations.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to work on a team.

Self-motivated individuals with strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the passion and appetite to learn newer technologies.

Work Authorization

Cognizant will only consider applicants for this position who are legally authorized to work in Canada without requiring company sponsorship now or at any time in the future.

Location(s)

New hires will be deployed to Cognizant office(s) in Calgary, AB Canada where you will work alongside other experienced Cognizant associates delivering technology solutions. Applicants must be willing to relocate to the aforementioned major geographic areas.

Start Date(s)

Entry-level Cloud & Security Engineers will largely start in 2 cohorts \xe2\x80\x93 June , or August 2023. While we will attempt to honor candidate summer start date preferences, business need and position availability will determine final start date assignment.
