Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial teacher to deliver
BEM1O - Entrepreneurship: The Venture
, a Grade 9 Business Studies course focused on innovation, leadership, and practical business skills.
This is a
part-time, in-person
position running from
December 1 to March 31
, with daily classes close to two hours per day. The class is small, allowing for personalized instruction, mentorship, and interactive project work.
The course emphasizes design thinking, financial literacy, leadership, and communication through hands-on, real-world projects rather than textbook study. Students research entrepreneurs, develop original business ideas, and present final "Dragon's Den" style pitches.
Key Responsibilities
Teach and guide students through the development of entrepreneurial ideas and business plans
Deliver instruction aligned with the
Ontario Curriculum: Business Studies, BEM1O (2024)
Integrate project-based learning, creativity, and digital tools such as Google Workspace or Canva
Design lessons and assessments that combine leadership, innovation, and financial reasoning
Provide feedback through observation, conversation, and product (as outlined in Growing Success*) Maintain clear unit plans, rubrics, and assessment documentation for inspection readiness
Communicate progress through midterm and final reports, parent interviews, and LMS updates
Support students in developing confidence, professionalism, and presentation skills
Core Course Focus
Students will explore:
Business leadership and project management
Use of digital tools for business communication
Design thinking and innovation
Financial literacy and budgeting
Entrepreneurship as a career path and mindset
Qualifications and Skills
Background in
entrepreneurship, business, finance, or marketing
Bachelor's degree required;
Bachelor of Education preferred but not mandatory
for experienced professionals
Strong understanding of business principles and the entrepreneurial process
Ability to connect academic content to practical, real-world examples
Excellent communication and classroom management skills
Familiarity with Growing Successand Ministry expectations for assessment and evaluation
Organized, dependable, and confident in mentoring students individually and in small groups
Ability take the course outline, and prepare/ deliver and report on a meaningful learning experience for students

A teacher who brings both structure and real-world relevance to senior-level instruction
Strong understanding of entrepreneurship as demonstrated in your experiences
Ability to create engaging, discussion-rich classrooms with academic integrity and high expectations
Ability to build rapport with students and foster classroom participation through a confident, approachable presence
Additional Information:
All courses must meet the 110-hour credit requirement and comply with Ministry inspection standards
