Position Overview
InnovOak is seeking a relational, organized, and motivated teacher for a
Long-Term Occasional (LTO)
position running from
December 1 through June 2026
. This
0.48 FTE
role includes teaching
Mathematics (Grades 6 to 8)
and
Science, Field Studies, and Physical Education (Grades 4 to 8)
. Each class has
fewer than 15 students
, allowing for focused instruction and meaningful relationships.
This role, available following a retirement, provides the opportunity to continue a strong classroom program within a collaborative and experienced team. It is ideal for a beginning or early-career teacher who wants to strengthen their professional foundation in a school that values connection, structure, and authentic teaching. Key Responsibilities
Teach
Mathematics (Grades 6 to 8)
through the Ontario+1 Standards(TM) and Singapore Math framework
Deliver
Science, Field Studies, and Physical Education (Grades 4 to 8)
with a focus on skill-building, curiosity, and real-world connection
Develop clear, organized lessons and assessment plans that reflect sound instructional practice
Provide individualized and small-group instruction to strengthen student understanding and confidence
Integrate both traditional and innovative methods to create a purposeful, balanced classroom
Build a strong and cohesive classroom culture that mentors and coaches' students to be their best selves
Encourage perseverance, independent thinking, and curiosity through explicit teaching and guided inquiry
Maintain accurate records for attendance, planning, and assessment to meet school and Ministry standards
Communicate progress with students, parents, and colleagues through conferences and reports
Contribute to the broader school environment through collaboration, care, and shared professional practice
Participate in staff development, staff activities and other typical teacher roles outside of the classroom
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor of Education preferred; OCT registration valued
Experience teaching in an Ontario classroom is prefered and valued
Knowledge of the
Ontario Curriculum
(Mathematics, Science, Health and Physical Education)
Must be available to teach in person in Kitchener-Waterloo
Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills
This role requires classroom teaching experience in a Canadian or Ontario-recognized school environment and a clear understanding of Ontario school culture, routines, and expectations.
University degree in an education-related or relevant field
Excellent communication and classroom management skills
Familiarity with Growing Successand Ministry expectations for assessment and evaluation
Organized, dependable, and confident in mentoring students individually and in small groups
Ability take the course outline, and prepare/ deliver and report on a meaningful learning experience for students
