In a daycare setting, an enhancement worker (sometimes called a childcare enhancement aide or early childhood support worker) plays a supportive role to help ensure children--especially those with special needs or requiring extra assistance--receive quality care and early learning opportunities. Child Support Duties
Assist individual children with special needs, behavioral challenges, or developmental delays.
Support children in daily routines such as eating, toileting, dressing, and transitioning between activities.
Encourage participation in group activities and help children engage socially with peers.
Provide one-on-one assistance when required, helping children meet developmental goals.
Educational & Activity Support
Reinforce learning activities designed by early childhood educators.
Help implement individualized plans or adaptations based on children's needs (e.g., sensory play, visual aids).
Support classroom activities like arts and crafts, story time, and play-based learning.
Set up and clean up materials before and after activities.
Behavior Management
Help implement behavioral strategies and routines developed by educators or specialists.
Monitor and document behaviors to track progress and challenges.
Model appropriate behavior and social skills.
Team & Family Communication
Collaborate with early childhood educators to share observations and support strategies.
Communicate with parents or guardians (as appropriate) about a child's progress or needs.
Participate in team meetings or case conferences regarding children's development.
Health & Safety
Ensure children's safety during indoor and outdoor play.
Follow sanitation protocols (cleaning toys, surfaces, etc.).
