Grade 1 Reading, Writing & English Tutor

TutorCraft is seeking a passionate and patient Reading, Writing & English Tutor to provide one-on-one, in-person tutoring sessions for a Grade 1 student. This is an excellent opportunity for an educator who loves working with young learners and is committed to building strong foundational literacy skills.

Position Details

Grade Level: Grade 1 Subject Areas: Reading, Writing, and English Language Arts Session Type: In-person, one-on-one tutoring Location: Client's home in Pineridge, NE Calgary Schedule: Flexible hours to be arranged with family
Responsibilities

Provide engaging, age-appropriate instruction in reading, writing, and English Develop personalized lesson plans tailored to the student's learning style and needs Build foundational literacy skills including phonics, sight words, reading comprehension, and writing mechanics Create a positive, encouraging learning environment that builds confidence Track and communicate student progress with parents Use creative teaching methods and materials to keep young learners engaged Adapt teaching strategies based on the student's pace and progress
Qualifications

Required:

Experience teaching or tutoring elementary-aged children (especially Grade 1-3) Strong knowledge of early literacy development and reading/writing instruction Patience, enthusiasm, and ability to connect with young learners Excellent communication skills with both children and parents Reliable transportation to travel to Pineridge, NE Calgary Clean criminal background check (required for working with children)
Preferred:

Bachelor's degree in Education, English, or related field Teaching certification or tutoring credentials Familiarity with Alberta curriculum standards Experience with phonics-based reading programs
Compensation

Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications
