The Engineering Technician - Will work with the Project Manager to ensure the production department has the updated drawings and equipment required to complete the work for specific projects.
This will require co-ordination between engineering, project management, production and sales to ensure that all key items are address and completed as per drawings and specifications.
Training will be provided to the candidate to ensure success.
The long term goal is to have the engineering technician transition to Design Engineer. This will be dependent on how quickly the Engineering Technician is able to pick up key engineering concepts.
Job Responsibilities:
Work with the Project Manager to ensure all the components of the project are accurate and full.
Review drawings and Bill of Material to ensure it is accurate and complete. Also make changes to the drawings and Bill of Material to ensure accuracy.
Co-ordinate with the Production Team to ensure that the products are manufactured as per drawings and specifications.
Understand how our products are used in the field and suggest improvements to our products for easier manufacturing or installation at the job site
Ensure the installation manuals for specific project are complete and can be used as a guide in the field for efficient installation.
Participate in the weekly production scheduling meeting to help with the priorities at Protectolite
Participate/Lead the production team on the mock up of products before it goes into serial production. If changes are required to the mock up, ensure changes to the design are implemented for the production parts
Ensure hardware for the specific products are received before serial production is started.
Manage hardware for all production parts. Update the team when hardware is received and production can start.
Use Fundamental Engineering Concepts to improve product development
Learn about the composite business and manufacturing as a whole.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
Help make Protectolite a work safe environment
Job Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Must have a technology or degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience
Must have a willingness to learn about composite manufacturing
Experience in using fundamental engineering principles
Experience in making improvements to current processes
Ability to learn new skills and adopt best practices
Education:
Engineering Degree or Diploma from a recognized Engineering School
Or Equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment
Non Canadian experience is treated as equivalent to Canadian Experience
Knowledge Skills and Experience:
Highly Motivated and results oriented.
Ability to lead a project through team activities
In-depth knowledge of Computer Systems
Good communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks.
Ability to make presentations in front of a group.
