Job Description

Adecco is currently seeking an Engineering Technician to join our client's team in Cambridge, ON. This is a 6-month contract role offering $40 per hour. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, assembling, and maintaining complex electronic and optical systems, with hands-on tasks including prototyping, wiring, soldering, and troubleshooting.

  • Pay rate: $40/hour.
  • Location: Cambridge, ON
  • Shifts: Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm
  • Job type: 6-month contract | Full-time

Responsibilities:
  • Support new products, processes, and standards aligned with business strategies
  • Set up test equipment and perform low-level testing on breadboard circuitry, prototype units, and electronic components
  • Read schematics and execute wiring tasks
  • Build prototypes for testing and experimentation
  • Troubleshoot and repair electronic systems and components
  • Perform failure analysis and post-mortem investigations
  • Use diagnostic tools to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Conduct experiments with new materials and processes
  • Draft procedures and record laboratory notes
  • Improve fixtures, devices, and processes for efficiency
  • Provide technical support to the engineering team
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts
Requirements:
  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.
  • Technical diploma or degree in electrical/electronics engineering or related field
  • 3+ years' experience in electronics, including wiring, troubleshooting, and repairing complex systems
  • Hands-on soldering experience at board-level
  • Skilled in creating cables with various connectors
  • Strong understanding of electronic components and systems
  • Ability to write test scripts (Python preferred)
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Experience testing and debugging board-level electronics, systems, and cables/harnesses
  • Experience building and repairing electronic systems including wiring and soldering
  • Ability to use electrical measurement and diagnostic tools
  • Experience with optical systems and environmental testing (ESD, clean room)
  • Familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters
  • Experience with SAP and project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer support experience
