Engineering Technician

Job Description

The Engineering Technician is responsible for the creation of wrapping specification drawings for heat treating set up of vessels, pipes, valves, etc. to meet customers procedure specifications. They work collaboratively with Superheat employees, clients, and fabrication codes.

Responsibilities



Receive direction and perform tasks assigned via Superheat task management process Create wrapping specification sheets - (for library and customer specific- as required) Create drawings for draft procedures, calculating required soak, heat, and gradient control bands required to meet heat treatment code specifications Review and interpret ISO/fabrication drawings from clients and to apply heating elements best suited to conform to structural anomalies, and provide desired temperature gradients Identify control zones and heater requirements for bidding and execution planning purposes Upgrade format modified WSS drawings from site management Identify and note expansion amounts during heat treatment to prevent distortion if applicable Identify and note risk on loss of integral strength during heat treatment if applicable Provide Heat Treat procedure support/offer solutions to minimize risk and guarantee success Create Superheat equipment fabrication drawings including sheet metal, and electrical schematics Work within Superheat library to support proven and expanding knowledge base Support SmartCenter(TM) operations staff on set up adjustments as required Ensure drawings are completed and revised as per requirements

Qualifications



Previous experience with Solidworks or Auto Cad Previous experience with reading Piping Isometric and/or Vessel Fabrication drawings Excellent computer skills using Microsoft software, i.e. Word, Excel, SharePoint, Microsoft Dynamics, and pdf. Experience in a technical occupation related to the heat treatment industry an asset Customer service oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines Ability to work independently and as part of team Superior organizational skills

Work Experience and Education Requirements



Experience with mechanical drafting Experience with piping/vessel fabrication or maintenance Experience with power industry or oil/gas refining Post-secondary diploma/degree in a Mechanical Drafting, Technical Engineering, Process Engineering field
