Position Overview
This position reports to the Co-Owners. The Engineering Team Lead will oversee the design, development, and continuous improvement of forestry equipment. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring projects meet requirements, regulatory standards, and production timelines. The ideal candidate is an innovative problem-solver with strong mechanical design skills and a passion for driving engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of mechanical engineers.
Foster a collaborative and high-performance engineering culture focused on innovation and continuous improvement.
Work with the Marketing department to provide technical product information, content and assets for product launches.
Design & Development
Oversee the end-to-end design process from concept through to production.
Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using SolidWorks.
Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs), product documentation, and manufacturing instructions.
Perform engineering calculations to validate designs and prepare reports.
Project Execution
Ensure all engineering projects meet technical specifications and production timelines.
Collaborate with project management, operations, and manufacturing teams to facilitate a seamless transition from product design and prototyping to production and launch.
Develop process for product design phases, prototyping, testing, validation, improvement initiatives.
Compliance & Standards
Ensure designs meet performance, safety, regulatory, and customer requirements.
Maintain strict adherence to industry standards and regulatory compliance.
Manage and maintain comprehensive CAD material databases and templates.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Drive process improvements in engineering methodologies and best practices.
Champion technology advancement and stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
Support troubleshooting and timely resolution of complex mechanical issues across product lines.
Other Duties
Communicate effectively with senior management, providing regular updates on project status, milestones, and deliverables.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Abilities
Strong technical expertise in mechanical design, manufacturing processes, and product development.
Proficiency in SolidWorks and related engineering tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Ability to build consensus and align organizational initiatives.
Proficient in project management and data analysis tools.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Proven ability to solve problems creatively and drive projects through the full life cycle.
Strong interpersonal skills and resourcefulness, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
Experience with the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program is an asset.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or diploma in engineering, preferably mechanical.
3-5 years of related experience managing engineering projects, preferably with a focus on product development or operational excellence.

This position is located on-site at our Port Perry office.
The successful candidate will be eligible for our health spending account after passing the three-month probation period.
