Job Description


SUMMARY

Provide RF and Electrical Space Systems design, System performance analysis, then implementation and testing in support of Telecommunication advanced communication payloads for non-terrestrial applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Payload Telecommunication specialist provides both payload architecture design and RF system performance analysis and performance budgets (i.e capacity, Gain, G/T, EIRP\xe2\x80\xa6.) during the payload life cycle, including bids, requirement definitions, project implementation, testing phases along with R&D activities in support of payload or processes improvement.
  • Provide support to and/or lead payload design activities.
  • Participate in the Payload electrical and RF System performance evaluation.
  • Write engineering documentations: system requirements, SOC, verification and validation matrix, design description, systems budgets, equipment specifications, test requirements, RFD/RFW.
  • Perform system worst-case analysis, inputs and support to program reviews: EQSR, SRR, PDR, CDR.
  • Payload assembly Integration and Test. Attend test reviews: TRR, TRB, DRB, and NCR\'s.
  • Support Payload testing: EGSE, Test supervision, data analysis.
  • Support Satellite tests at S/C supplier premises.
  • Support In-Orbit Test (IOT).
  • Technical monitoring of major subcontractors: Receivers, LNAs, Converters, SSPAs, LTWTAs, Multiplexers.
  • Support to DC & RF harness design, Payload layout.
  • Write up Payload Operations Manual
QUALIFICATIONS
  • BSc in electrical engineering and 4-7 years minimum experience in Telecommunications Satellite Payloads in the satellite industry or equivalent.
  • The following knowledge will be considered favourably:
  • Familiarity in Direct Radiating Array (DRA) Antenna with multiple active elements
  • Familiarity digital signal processing
  • Familiarity of the DVB-S2X and DVB-RCS2 air interface standards and their applications.
  • Familiarity with Digital MODEM, Digital Channelizer and Digital Beam Forming performance requirements
  • Familiarity with Network Switching protocols (Ethernet, DTN, MPLS) for non-terrestrial applications
  • Familiarity with Payload AI&T activities and Payload test methods
  • RF Communication System modelling and simulation experience
  • Familiarity with digital communication interfaces such as Spacewire, CANBus
  • English required, French fluency would be an asset.
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident is preferred

  • Fournir un soutien et/ou diriger des activit\xc3\xa9s de conception de charges utiles.
  • Participer \xc3\xa0 l\'\xc3\xa9valuation de la performance \xc3\xa9lectrique de la charge utile et du syst\xc3\xa8me RF.
  • R\xc3\xa9diger les documentations d\'ing\xc3\xa9nierie : exigences du syst\xc3\xa8me, SOC, matrice de v\xc3\xa9rification et de validation, description de la conception, budgets des syst\xc3\xa8mes, sp\xc3\xa9cifications des \xc3\xa9quipements, exigences de test, RFD/RFW.
  • Effectuer l\'analyse des cas les plus d\xc3\xa9favorables du syst\xc3\xa8me, les entr\xc3\xa9es et le soutien aux revues de programme : EQSR, SRR, PDR, CDR.
  • Int\xc3\xa9gration et test de l\'assemblage de la charge utile. Assister aux examens des tests : TRR, TRB, DRB et NCR.
  • Prise en charge des tests de charge utile : EGSE, supervision des tests, analyse des donn\xc3\xa9es.
  • Soutenir les tests satellites dans les locaux du fournisseur S/C.
  • Prend en charge le test en orbite (IOT).
  • Suivi technique des sous-traitants majeurs : R\xc3\xa9cepteurs, LNA, Convertisseurs, SSPA, LTWTA, Multiplexeurs.
  • Prise en charge de la conception de harnais CC et RF, disposition de la charge utile.
  • R\xc3\xa9diger le manuel d\'exploitation de la charge utile
QUALIFICATIONS
  • BSc en g\xc3\xa9nie \xc3\xa9lectrique et 4 \xc3\xa0 7 ans d\'exp\xc3\xa9rience minimum dans les charges utiles des satellites de t\xc3\xa9l\xc3\xa9communications dans l\'industrie des satellites ou \xc3\xa9quivalent.
  • Les connaissances suivantes seront consid\xc3\xa9r\xc3\xa9es favorablement :
  • Connaissance de l\'antenne \xc3\xa0 r\xc3\xa9seau rayonnant direct (DRA) avec plusieurs \xc3\xa9l\xc3\xa9ments actifs
  • Traitement du signal num\xc3\xa9rique de familiarit\xc3\xa9
  • Connaissance des normes d\'interface hertzienne DVB-S2X et DVB-RCS2 et de leurs applications.
  • Familiarit\xc3\xa9 avec les exigences de performance du modem num\xc3\xa9rique, du canaliseur num\xc3\xa9rique et de la formation de faisceaux num\xc3\xa9riques
  • Familiarit\xc3\xa9 avec les protocoles de commutation de r\xc3\xa9seau (Ethernet, DTN, MPLS) pour les applications non terrestres
  • Familiarit\xc3\xa9 avec les activit\xc3\xa9s Payload AI&T et les m\xc3\xa9thodes de test Payload
  • Exp\xc3\xa9rience en mod\xc3\xa9lisation et simulation de syst\xc3\xa8mes de communication RF
