The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be exposed to the different areas of government oversight on the mineral resource sector. Most of the time, this position will be part of a two-person team that is responsible to locate and assess abandoned mine openings across the province. This work will involve the review of historical mining records on file with the Department of Natural Resources and Renewables to locate mine openings, development of a base map for field activities, and then to locate, catalogue and assess mine openings in the field under the supervision of the field leader.The position will be responsible for cataloguing and scanning historical documents and mine plans and managing digital data. The Engineering Student will also be assigned various mineral development, engineering and/or geological projects, as they arise. The student's time will split between the office and field.Qualifications and ExperienceApplicants must have completed their third year of engineering undergraduate studies with a major in any of the following disciplines:
