Job Summary

The Engineering Project Manager will lead project teams in the development of exciting, cutting-edge technology. You will lead projects comprised of a diverse set of engineering teams including software, mechatronics, and test engineers. By coupling your project management skills with relationship building, and technical know-how, you will have a direct impact in the success of your projects. Communication skills are critical to sharing your ideas and will be relied upon to make sure everyone stays informed, on track and in sync! You will report to the Manager, Engineering Project Management, and will be directly responsible for project schedule, budget, and communication.

The Engineering Project Manager will:

  • Lead project teams through Teledyne FLIR\'s phased development process starting with kickoff through product release.
  • Develop detailed schedules, resource plans, budgets, and status reports while breaking projects into measurable milestones.
  • Apply change and risk management.
  • Communicate project status to senior leadership.
  • Partner with other key stakeholders including Product Management, Program Management, Supply Chain and Manufacturing. Include each group\'s requirements into the project plan.
  • Manage domestic and international vendor partners and suppliers.
  • Understand your project\'s critical path, identify impediments/risks and help eliminate them.
  • Assess and take action with technical leads to resolve technical issues.
  • Run development status meetings and stand-ups.
  • Manage hardware demand for development teams.
Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Bachelor\'s degree in an appropriate technical field of study, or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of project management techniques and methods. Project Management Professional certification an asset.
  • Experienced with product development processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record of managing successful projects in complex environments, including hardware and software project
  • Solid understanding of project cost management and working with financial methods and concepts.
  • Experience managing software projects an asset.
  • Eligible to be certified to examine, possess and transfer items under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and legally authorized to work in Canada.
