Wood is recruiting for an Engineering Portfolio Manager to join its Process & Chemical business focusing on providing comprehensive Transmission, Distribution, and Renewable project solutions across North America. This opportunity is Hybrid.

The Role



Wood is currently seeking a highly motivated Engineering Portfolio Manager to join our Power Solutions business. Reporting to the Projects Director, this position is in our Vancouver, BC office. This role involves leadership and oversight of a major client(s) engineering program focused on utility Substation, Distribution, and Transmission Line design.

Typical responsibilities



Evaluate and monitor the engineering performance of a major client program by gathering feedback from project teams, client evaluations, and conducting audits. Understand and enforce existing Wood processes and procedures while providing input for improvement. Assist in creating new procedures where required. Embed progressive learning and best practices within the team. Actively engage in building and maintaining relationships with the client's technical counterparts. Provide support in addressing urgent or complex technical issues that arise during projects and assist with QA/QC for key technical documents as required. Serve as the primary contact for reviewing, benchmarking, and approving engineering contributions to estimates, proposals, and project change notices (PCNs). Support the program engineering resource management and workload planning. Identify team competency gaps and implement remediation strategies.

Expected:



Engineering Degree from a recognized university along with a Canadian Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng.) or the ability to register as a Professional Engineer with EGBC. 15+ years of experience as an Engineer with a focus on Substation, Distribution or Transmission Line design for power utilities, either directly or through an engineering consultancy. 4+ years of experience in guiding and overseeing teams, providing leadership and direction. Experience coordinating design interfaces across engineering disciplines such as substation electrical, civil, structural, protection & control, telecom, transmission lines and distribution. Ability to diagnose issues, solve problems, and quickly understand and adapt to client requirements and processes. Experience with preparation and review of engineering design estimates and proposals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong understanding of regulatory codes and standards, including CSA, NESC, and ANSI/IEEE. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Positive and professional attitude.

Desirable:



North American power utility design experience is considered an asset.
