Job Description

Introduction:

Regal Tanks Ltd. / Tidy Steel-Fab Ltd. is looking for a full-time employee to join our team as an Engineering Designer / Draftsperson. Regal Tanks Ltd. was incorporated in 1973. Our primary business line is the manufacture of tanks and related accessories for the liquid storage of diesel, gasoline, jet fuel & other various chemicals for customers worldwide. We also process steel plate and provide steel fabrication for a variety of industries. Our primary markets are in the United States and Canada.

Primary :

Create engineering and production drawings for manufacturing. Develop and prepare structural and mechanical shop drawings for fabrication. Read, interpret, and verify blueprints to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and industry standards. Design fuel tanks and other steel structures according to applicable codes. Perform structural calculations and engineering analysis, including determining loads, forces, moments, center of gravity, weight distribution, and stability to support design decisions, material selection, and safe fabrication. Collaborate with project managers, customers, and shop personnel to ensure design accuracy. Assist in estimating material and production costs for designs. Maintain design documentation, including material lists and specifications. Troubleshoot and provide design solutions for fabrication challenges.

Requirements:

2+ years of experience in engineering design, drafting, or related fields. Demonstrated ability to apply structural and mechanical analysis to practical designs. Familiarity with structural calculations, forces, moments, and basic mechanical engineering principles. Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD (3D modeling is an asset). Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Familiarity with engineering codes and standards. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work in a deadline-driven environment. Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Assets:

Experience with fuel tank or structural steel design. Familiarity with material estimation and procurement. Experience with 2D/3D modeling software beyond AutoCAD. Professional engineering license (P.Eng) not required but considered an asset; licensed candidates may receive higher compensation.
