Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented

Engineering Assistant

to support our land development projects across

vineyards, housing, campgrounds, and other construction initiatives

. This permanent role involves assisting the company owner with project coordination, compliance research, and communication with staff, vendors, and government bodies.

The ideal candidate has a background or strong interest in

civil engineering, land development, or housing projects

, and is eager to grow within a dynamic and hands-on work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the company owner in managing multiple land development projects from planning to completion. Prepare and track

project timelines

, and support budget estimation and cost analysis. Research and interpret

bylaws, zoning requirements, and regulations

to ensure compliance. Liaise with

government agencies, suppliers, service providers, and contractors

as required. Act as a

bridge between company owner and on-site staff

, ensuring smooth communication. Collect and report

daily staff activities, equipment status, and machine issues

to the company owner. Support translation and communication when required. Provide technical and administrative support related to

civil engineering and land development projects

.

Qualifications & Skills

Education or work experience in

Civil Engineering, Land Development, Construction, or Housing

preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to research and understand technical documents, regulations, and bylaws. Proficiency in

Microsoft Office / Excel / Project tools

. Knowledge of

Cantonese or Mandarin

preferred (translation may be required). Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and accuracy. Reliable transportation and close commute to Denman Island / Nanaimo area.

What We Offer

Permanent full-time employment. (Contract position can be offered for a higher rate)

$18-$25/hour
