Who we need

We are looking for an Engineer and Technical Design Manager to lead a collaborative multi-talented group within and across multiple Business Units. You will play a critical role, bringing Engineering Discipline and Design-for-Manufacturing expertise to support Business Unit Project objectives. You will mentor your team, foster an innovative culture, and develop strategic Design-For-Cost solutions, focusing on adding value and delivering best-in-class execution of all Engineering and Technical Design tasks. You will directly impact our success by working directly with Account Managers, Project Managers, clients, and manufacturing partners to ensure all project needs are met.

You will focus on:

  • Direct and oversee all phases of engineering. You will work closely with Account Managers, Project Managers, clients, and manufacturing partners to ensure all project needs are met, facilitating resource sharing and workload level loading between Business Units within the Market Segment and managing seasonal spikes. You will ensure the format of deliverables and presentation quality align with the \xe2\x80\x9cArray Way\xe2\x80\x9d standards across all BUs and geographical locations. You will encourage innovative solutions and creative exploration to address design for manufacturability, adding value through brainstorming sessions, prototyping ideas, and collaborating with all project stakeholders. You will perform failure analysis and problem-solving (8D process) to improve product design and prevent recurring problems.
  • Enhance productivity. You will collaborate with the BU Leaders and the Chapter COE to develop strategic solutions that will allow the company to meet the continuing demands of Design For Cost and Manufacturing (DFM/ DFC), including developing tools and processes, growing the team\xe2\x80\x99s expertise, and socializing best practices. You will recommend measures to improve process methods, team performance and quality and work with your peers to define strategic development plans for the team, including technical and non-technical improvements in the operations.
  • Team leadership and growth. You will guide and oversee the work of Engineer Technologists, Digital Illustrators, and Desktop Publishing Designers. You will ensure the team adheres to standard operating procedures and follows an Agile Sprint Framework. You will address gaps in compliance and identify the need for further training. You will lead, develop and mentor all direct reports; conduct performance management reviews and implement development plans; establish goals and objectives for each team member. You will manage expectations and standards; support a fair and positive culture and professional development environment.
You have:
  • The education and experience.. You have a diploma or degree in Mechanical or Industrial Design or a related field and 3+ years in POP/Retail Design as a Senior Designer or Manager.
  • The engineering knowledge. You have an excellent understanding of Materials and Processes commonly used within the industry and proficiency with Design Development software, including CAD, Word Processing, spreadsheet and database software. You have direct experience interpreting, creating, and applying design briefs, procedures and processes.
  • The interpersonal skills. You have an exceptional ability to foster strong internal and client relationships, building out your understanding of business objectives and contributing to strategies. You can lead and motivate a team, influence cross-functionally, and gain the trust of decision-makers. You are comfortable facilitating meetings, proposing ideas, and presenting prototypes to senior stakeholders.
