Salary: $79,575 - $106,099 (determined based on education and experience)

The title of this position will be determined based on qualifications of successful candidate. (See Qualification #1)

POSITION OVERVIEW

Accountable to develop & define the wireless business processes and strategy required to assure exceptional customer experience delivered by the wireless network for both existing and new service offerings. The focus of this position is to provide an overall view of the performance impacts of the introduction of new services, new network elements and new technologies to the existing wireless networks. Accountable to recommend exiting strategy technology migration or upgrade strategy and identify possible impacts to wireless networks and customer experience. Determine the business drivers and operational influences of all aspects of the architecture. This position will provide consultative expertise to senior management in the form of advice, recommendations, studies, written reports and presentations.

LEADERSHIP ACCOUNTABILITIES

People

  • Leads, directs and manages staff to ensure the effective use of HR resources. Maximizes performance by selecting (hire external or promote from within), developing, mentoring and sustaining a high level of expertise among staff. Organize and direct work including prioritizing assignments, establishing objectives, providing regular performance feedback, conducting year end performance appraisals and taking necessary corrective action as may be required. Assists in staff career planning, establishes development and succession plans and ensures relevant HR procedures and policies are followed (provisions of the collective agreement, performance appraisals, discipline, grievance, etc). Accountable for provisioning and managing contracted resources as may be required.
  • Accountable for promoting a productive and positive environment for staff that encourages innovation, teamwork, initiative and models corporate values. Motivates staff by assigning challenging work, planning and managing internal communications and awareness of corporate direction, mission, plans and activities.
  • Ensures all safety, health, environmental and code of conduct policies, programs and standards are understood and complied with at all times.
  • Proactively identify and action opportunities to increase customer satisfaction (internal and external customers).
Financial
  • Ensure sound financial control within area of responsibility by developing annual operating and capital budgets, monitoring performance to budget and taking action as appropriate. Develops, negotiates and implements contracts for acquisition of goods & services related to area of responsibility.
Innovation
  • Accountable to research, develop, define and implement innovative long and short term plans, policies and objectives. Provides expertise to senior management providing education, studies and consulting on opportunities that will impact business strategy. Ensures alignment and integration with the corporate strategic plan and develops plan and operational metrics, including approaches for demonstrating business value.
  • Accountable to proactively identify and action opportunities to improve revenue and growth initiatives, decrease costs, increase customer service levels and increase employee engagement.
  • Accountable to develop opportunities to spark innovation in technology or product service delivery or process improvements.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Accountable for the technical direction and consultation of network evolution and strategy as it pertains to network performance and ultimately customer experience.
  • Accountable for the development of tools, training and processes directed to improve the efficiency, effectiveness of managing and ensuring performance in the wireless network.
  • Accountable for identifying business drivers and maintaining business continuity through network evolution and performance.
  • Accountable to establish business process analysis, design and optimization supported by research and analysis that identify and resolve gaps in the wireless performance business process. All refinements, changes and evolution of business process are to align with Holdco strategic direction
  • Accountable to develop and execute a plan to operationalize the wireless performance process in support of exceptional customer experience
  • Work in conjunction with external and internal departments of TD&E providing performance development that benefits these business units. Where process crosses departmental boundaries, this position is responsible to engage the appropriate teams regarding any changes including the development and execution of transition plans to deliver
future functionality. * Serve as a consultant to various business units and or any associated client areas, keeping them informed of any hardware/software strategies that are developing in the short term or long term that are directly related to a technology change or implementation to provide a new service or discontinue a legacy service or application.
  • Evaluate and create reports on the impacts of changing network elements, technologies, features, services or architecture. Provide information sessions to all departments and business units that would be directly affected by the service or technology requirements.
  • Develop and establish contacts and relationships with other telecommunication companies, consultants, vendors or other sources that may benefit wireless network performance and improve our customer experience.
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining a repository of information including; standards, architecture methodology, vendor documentation, technical requirements and project deliverables as it pertains to wireless performance.
QUALIFICATIONS * University Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Electronic Information Systems Engineering OR Technical Institute diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology with three years related experience.
  • Working knowledge of consulting, research, change management, project management, continuous improvement, strategic/business planning would be a definite asset.
  • Knowledge and experience in various technologies including digital transmission/multiplex, data communications, switching, access technologies, frame and cell switching, LAN/WAN, Networking and transmission protocols and Network Management
  • Knowledge and experience in operational support system and Information System Technology.
  • Ability to analyze business requirements and priorities and apply appropriate Information Technology solutions.
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to deal effectively with others. Presentation skills are considered an essential asset.
  • Strong planning, analytical and research skills. Strong team member with the ability to influence others. Must demonstrate the ability to work autonomously without supervision.
  • Demonstrates a great deal of initiative and innovativeness
  • Demonstrates a commitment to self development and development of others.
  • Information Systems Professional (ISP) designation desirable.
