Closing Date: May 22, 2024Reporting to the Project Director, the Project Engineer is responsible for the management of various projects within our Coal Business Unit (BU) site operations and the effective delivery of key success factors, such as health and safety, environmental compliance, schedule, cost, and quality.To be successful, we require someone with outstanding leadership, organization, planning, interpersonal, and communication skills, who can effectively collaborate with partners at all levels across the organization and lead change. This person is self-motivated, able to learn new things, and can prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.   • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Ensure the effective application of project processes including the Teck Project Delivery Framework, management of change, project charter development, request for proposals, and contract preparation and execution
  • Provide direction to achieve objectives in project studies and project execution
  • Identify strengths, critical issues, and areas of risk and exposure in the execution of the project
  • Ensure the best use of design information for all resources and handle the design and construction information database
  • Manage the project in full compliance of regulatory requirements, such as specific permit conditions and statutory requirements, and represent the project\'s interests in submissions made to regulators
  • Coordinate the efforts of a team of internal and external project specialists dedicated to the project or a shared project resource
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Eligible for registration or registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. (EGBC); Teck will support eligible employees with their EGBC registration
  • Minimum five years demonstrated ability in project management and design and construction management, in an industrial environment
  • Knowledge of staged project delivery; including studies, detail design and procurement, construction, and pre-commissioning/commissioning
  • Some knowledge and experience in managing Social, Environmental, and Regulatory Approvals is an asset
  • Experience with construction management, industrial safety practices, and engineering management is an asset
