Job Summary



Serve as a coordinating resource for management, hourly and salaried personnel in the daily operating and functions of the production process under the direction of the Plant Manager. Manage, initiate, control and direct the activities of the manufacturing plant.


Responsibility

+ Maintain balance between customer, employee and financial satisfaction by maximizing facility/department Performance Indicators to align to Linamar's Stepping Stool of Success Strategy.
+ Support and maintain department lean initiatives as set out in LPS system requirements.
+ Maintain department 5S requirements.
+ Communicate effectively with employees in a group or on an individual basis, pass information accurately, communicate in both oral and written form.
+ Serve as a coordinating resource for Management in the daily operation and functions of the production process under the direction of the Operations or General Manager.
+ Assist with the coordination of maintenance and PM activities.
+ Monitor and control training activities for the supervisory staff.
+ Facilitate supervisor's meetings.
+ Conduct interviews and make recommendations for hire.
+ Respond to employee concerns promptly and work with HR to resolve.
+ Complete performance evaluations for their department as required.
+ Attend customer meetings to address concerns and formulate resolutions efficiently and effectively.
+ Investigate process breakdowns and assist in the root cause analysis.
+ Perform 5S audits and health and safety inspections.
+ Research means of reducing costs plant wide through restructuring, scrap reduction, improved technology and elimination of waste.
+ Conduct monthly line meetings with employees.

Academic/Educational Requirements



Completion of secondary school is required. Journeyman/woman trade certification in related field would be an asset.

Required Skills/Experience




+ Five to seven years' manufacturing experience in a supervisory role.
+ Read completed inspection forms to ensure all maintenance, repair and inspection tasks have been adequately completed by workers. Identify structures and locate dimensions in scale drawings. Familiarity with employee legislation.
+ Speak with managers to explain progress of jobs and to obtain instructions and tasks. Teach employees and less experienced workers to install new equipment. Organize and lead meetings with employees and supervisors
+ Plan employees' days, schedule appointments and adjust schedules in response to customers' demands. Review turnaround times for repairs and installations and diverse skills of workers to ensure job tasks are assigned to appropriate workers. Change work assignments and schedules to maintain and improve efficiency.
+ Ability to rearrange schedules frequently to meet customers' requests, deal with faults and mechanical failures and participate in impromptu meetings in midst of daily routines. Evaluate quality of work of various installations, maintenance and repair work completed by employees. Closely inspect work, take measurements and analyze production data .
+ Oversee the collection and analysis of data from productions, installations and repairs. Oversee the development and monitoring of detailed overhaul, repair and preventative maintenance schedules for shop tools, equipment and vehicles .
+ Ability to work independently to provide professional guidance and oversight to maintenance and installation tasks and projects. Assume a wide variety of roles to coordinate job tasks with those of junior workers, co-workers and subcontractors. Work according to company mandates for communication, meetings and projects .
+ Ability to operate and troubleshoot machines and equipment. Ability to use basic computer applications and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to continuously learn to keep up with new technologies, new products, new information and regulatory changes within industry. Participate in seminars, courses, and other learning opportunities through the organization .
+ Knowledge of applicable employment and safety legislation.
