Your opportunity:
The Engagement Officer will foster relationships with and engage priority alumni segments, groups, and prospects to deepen their connections to University College (UC), through face-to-face engagement, as well as scaled activities such as impact reporting, events, and advancement communications touchpoints.
The Engagement Officer works collaboratively with UC's alumni relations committees on a volunteer strategy that sparks connection to the college, strengthens affinity and develops a robust pipeline of prospective supporters. You will collaborate with others to implement this strategy and develop volunteer objectives, recruitment plans, a regular cadence of meetings.
You will contribute to the fundraising strategy for the college by conducting donor and prospect research in support of campaign priorities, and contributing to a program that promotes the interaction with and recognition of donors at all giving levels.
The Engagement Officer role is highly collaborative--reporting to the Lead, Engagement Programs and working alongside an Alumni Relations Officer. You will benefit from support and guidance from the University of Toronto's Faculty of Arts & Science as well as the Division of University Advancement (DUA) teams.
Your responsibilities will include:
Fostering positive relationships with alumni, and prospective and existing donors
Working with alumni groups and volunteers to implement year-round engagement plans
Supporting advancement communications planning by developing donor- and alumni-facing content
Promoting financial giving and volunteer service opportunities at the University
Assessing needs and contributing to the development and implementation of plans for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and recognition
Contributing to the execution of advancement events
Guiding the work and function of advancement volunteers and work study students as required
Preparing donor specific stewardship reports
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
Minimum four (4) years of relevant experience in an alumni and/or donor relations role
Experience in volunteer management such as recruiting, leading, coaching, and developing and implementing volunteer strategies to support engagement plans
Experience working directly with prospective and current donors, alumni or a combination
Experience developing communications, marketing plans and written materials (invitation letters, solicitation letters, briefing materials, mailing lists)
Experience building and strengthening relationships with alumni, student groups and other individuals of strategic importance
Experience developing alumni and donor engagement programs, and initiatives
Experience conceptualizing, organizing and executing events with a donor engagement objective
Experience managing donor and/or constituent databases and generating reports
Ability to operate effectively in complex multi-stakeholder environments, such as education and healthcare, and working with academics and physicians whose vision for changing the world demands both excellence and results
Strong organizational skills including the ability to balance competing priorities and work under pressure to specific deadlines
Exceptional interpersonal skills and professional presence necessary to interact with alumni, senior volunteers and stakeholders.
