Reporting to the Enforcement Services Supervisors, the Enforcement Services Officer is responsible for the administration and enforcement of all municipal regulatory by-laws, including Property Standards, Zoning and Traffic by-laws. The incumbent will perform a variety of duties, including but not limited to:
  • the investigation, documentation, and prosecution of by-law infractions;
  • the coordination of joint enforcement measures;
  • response for emergency property standards measures;
  • conflict resolution;
  • providing guidance and direction in matters related to by-law enforcement;
  • educating and ticketing for non-compliance;
  • responding to resident complaints and proactively patrolling;
  • providing parking enforcement for special events, parks and school zones;
  • Attending trials, and provide evidence as needed;
Who You Are Our Enforcement Services team is looking for a self-motivated, solutions-oriented team player with technical knowledge of, and experience in, municipal law enforcement and provincial statutes and regulations. You convey your thoughts clearly and concisely, both written and verbally, and help to foster a collaborative team environment among co-workers, and work well both independently and as part of a team. You listen attentively and ask questions for clarification and understanding. Using sound judgment, you demonstrate tact, diplomacy and sound discretion when working with the public. You bring to the team your strong reasoning, analytical, numerical, research and presentation skills. You solve problems by identifying, gathering and processing relevant information. Using your knowledge and experience in the field allows you to navigate through difficult interpersonal situations in a positive manner. You demonstrate adeptness in conflict resolution and approach applicable situations with the goals to improve communication, diffuse tension and resolve problems. What You Bring To Our Team
As the successful applicant, you must possess:
  • a two (2) year post-secondary diploma in law enforcement, law and security administration, police foundations, or enforcement related discipline;
  • designation as a Certified Municipal Law Enforcement Officer (MLEO(C)) through the Municipal Law Enforcement Officers\xe2\x80\x99 Association;
  • designation as a Certified Property Standards Officer (CPSO) through the Ontario Association of Property Standards Officers;
  • a minimum of (4) years of directly related experience including parking enforcement;
  • proficiency in a Windows based environment, and a demonstrated knowledge of the MS Office Suite (including MS Word, Excel and Outlook);
  • an understanding of database applications;
  • successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory police record check to the Corporation as a condition of employment; and
  • successful candidates are required to hold and maintain a valid Province of Ontario Class "G" Driver\'s License and qualify for the Town\xe2\x80\x99s Safe Driver Program criteria.

Union Affiliation: CUPE Full-Time

Hours: A rotation which includes afternoons and Saturdays (12:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.) and 1 week of overnights 9:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m. per month.
