EndocrinologistSupervision AvailableFull Time and Locum Opportunities AvailableOur client is seeking a full-time permanent Internal Medicine Specialist with an Interest/Focus in Diabetes care and General Endocrinology. The successful candidate will join the Internal Medicine Department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown. The Internal Medicine Department currently has 14 full-time physicians with a mixture of general internal medicine and subspecialty physicians.The Hospital, located in Southern PEI is the provincial referral center for specialized hospital services. The 243-bed facility provides emergency, surgical, inpatient and ambulatory care services.HOURS OF WORK:Full-time hours for a salaried physician is defined as 37.5 hours per week; andFull-time contract-for-service hours is based on a maximum of 1,725 hours per year.REMUNERATION: Physicians have the option of choosing salary or fee-for-service payment modality.Fee for Service: As an incorporated, independent medical specialist you can expect an annual income in excess of $400,000.Salaried payment model: $227,119- $262,607. Includes 4 weeks paid vacation, paid sick leave, employer contributed pension plan, family dental plan, Rx drug plan, group life and dis-ability plans, subsidized professional fees, etc..JOB DUTIES:General Internal Medicine practice with interest in Diabetes Care/General Endocrinology providing inpatient and outpatient care.Participate in the Internal Medicine on-call schedule, providing general medicine consultations within the hospital and the ER.Opportunity to assume role of Provincial Diabetes Medical AdvisorOpportunities are available, but not mandatory, to take part in the closed ICU rotation with 7-8 other physicians, inpatient cardiac stepdown unit, stress testing and cardiac device clinics.INCENTIVES:Qualified and licensable candidates may be eligible for a return-in-service grant of $100,000 with a 3-year (5,850 hour) commitment to Health PEI.Eligible moving expense reimbursements up to $10,000 are available.Opportunity to teach Medical Learners and Residents with faculty appointment at affiliated universities.PEI has hospital-based province-wide electronic health records giving access to lab reports, radiology reports and images, and physician notes.QUALIFICATIONS:Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada eligibility or certification preferred.Must be eligible for licensure with the provincial College of Physicians and Surgeons.THE COMMUNITY:The capital city of Charlottetown might be small, but it\'s bursting with big energy and Island hospitality.
