The Employment Training Facilitator is responsible for facilitating employment training programs, including the Elmwood Youth Employment Experience program and the Building Future Program. These programs aim to provide employability skills support, job readiness training, employment placement assistance, and workplace language training to participants, including youth and new immigrants.
Responsibilities
Recruit participants for the programs in collaboration with the Employment Team
Develop and implement marketing plans for the programs in consultation with the Manager.
Assist clients with job readiness skills, job search strategies, resume reviews, and interview preparation.
Build trusting relationships with participants by maintaining a non-judgmental attitude, in alignment with ECRC values and principles.
Assist in developing and facilitating weekly skills training content, while supporting participants in creating career plans to overcome barriers.
Assist clients with career plans and developing actionable steps while providing essential workplace language and employment support.
Provide information and direction that will empower participants to make informed decisions in the hopes of improving their quality of life
Provide on-going role modeling of soft skills such as being punctual, timely follow through, critical skills and having a positive attitude.
Ensure regular communication with the program Manager, and Director regarding program trends, participants' statistics, and critical incidents
Responsible for collecting, ensuring the accuracy, and maintaining records of program participants for statistical purposes.
Support with the creation and design of program materials and flyers for promotional purposes
Prepare monthly written reports on program participation detailing the progress, challenges and strategies for improvement.
Participate in team specific training sessions, staff meetings, and professional learnings
Other duties as may be assigned
Qualifications
Post-secondary degree in the social services field, human resources, and or education.
Other combinations of relevant education and experience may be considered
Experience working with youth and immigrants
3 years of experience working within Youth Employment programming with a culturally diverse population of youth and at-risk families.
Experience establishing relationships with business and community referral agencies
Experience in the development, organization, and facilitation of employment readiness and life skills training
Knowledge of the resources available in the community to individual experiencing barriers to employment and education
Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
Excellent interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written
Excellent computer skills including proficiency in virtual meeting platforms, Outlook, Word and Excel
Non-judgmental and accepting attitude
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Regular hours of work will be at the ECRC office from Monday to Friday. You will be required to work a combination of 9-5pm and or 12- 8pm, including occasional weekends for community events.
