Job Description

We are currently seeking 1 individual for this rewarding position. The employment Counsellor within the ACLBB organization works to support individuals that self declare a barrier to find employment and obtain meaningful employment within the community.

This is currently a 10 month term position. Whilst external candidates are not able to obtain health benefits, they are still under this term entitled to sick time and vacation time after probation.

The position is 75 hours biweekly , 830am-4pm Monday to Friday however there may be times where an evening or time on the weekend may be needed. The starting wage for this position is 18.00 an hour with an increase to 19.00 after one year of service. Please see below for additional information on the job description.

The Supported Employment Options (SEO) Employment Counsellor shall work under the direction of the SEO Coordinator and within the mandate of the Association for Community Living-BB. The SEO Employment Counsellor is responsible for adhering to all policies and procedures of the Association as well as encourage adherence of said policies and procedures amongst co-workers. This position at all times will respect and maintain confidentiality of all issues involving clients, co-workers and ACL-BB. This position will at all times abide by the Mission, Vision, and Value Statements of the agency.

Overall Responsibility



The SEO Employment Counsellor is an integral member of the client care team and is responsible for supporting all employment and training activities identified in individuals' plans with ACL-BB in a manner consistent with Association for Community Living-BB's philosophy and policy within the SEO program, the Vulnerable Person Living with a Disability Act and Manitoba Family Services vision, mission and principles. He/she will ensure high quality of program delivery and is passionate about supporting individuals with disabilities. This position ensures opportunities are provided for clients for access to valued outcomes, self-determination, meaningful involvement and valued roles in the community.

Requirements



Working with persons with disabilities is an asset

Knowledge of The Person Centered Planning philosophy and process

Knowledge of the Health and Safety Act

Strong knowledge of the Vulnerable Persons Act

Must be able to complete Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training

Must be able to complete First Aid course

Must be able to travel on Association business

Must possess a valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle

Interacts with clients, family members, staff, visitors
