Employment Counsellor

Reporting to the Program Manager, the successful candidate will conduct comprehensive needs assessments to identify client strengths, barriers, and appropriate referrals. You will collaborate with clients to develop and update personalized return-to-work plans, including resume support and job coaching. Additionally, you will manage and track financial supports in accordance with WorkBC policies and assist clients with applications for training and employment programs. The role requires consistently meeting performance and outcome targets, actively participating in team collaboration and program development, and building strong community connections to promote clients and enhance program visibility.
Qualifications
==================
The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum of three years' experience in employment counseling or related post-secondary education, complemented by strong assessment skills tailored to client needs. A Career Development Practitioner certificate is considered an asset. They will possess solid knowledge of labour market trends and community employment services, along with proficient Microsoft Office skills and the ability to quickly learn new software, including ICM.
Additionally, the candidate will be able to thrive in a performance-driven environment focused on sustained employment outcomes, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork to consistently meet targets. They should have a strong understanding of skills training processes and long-term intervention criteria, excellent resume writing skills, and effective problem-solving abilities. The ideal candidate is independent, self-motivated, mature, and competent in engaging with diverse, multicultural clients. Proficiency in a second language is also an asset.
This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
