Job Title: Employment Consultant

Hours: 34 hours per week (Monday - Friday schedule, flexible start and finish hours will be agreed with the supervisor on an ongoing basis).
JOB SUMMARY:
Agassiz WorkBC is seeking an Employment Consultant to provide individualized support to clients seeking employment, working with local employers to identify job opportunities, matching clients to employers, facilitating workshops, fostering work retention, providing coaching, representing Work BC at events and contributing to curriculum development.
Agassiz WorkBC team members work collaboratively towards a shared goal of delivering high-quality service to clients, employers, the community and the Ministry. Each AWBC team member utilizes strong communication and coordination skills, sharing knowledge to work effectively within a cross-functional team of AWBC staff and service delivery partners. All team members are responsible for the quality of our face-to-face and virtual interactions, promoting WorkBC services, providing outreach in various locations within our catchment area, and supporting community engagement activities. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage a client caseload in accordance with WorkBC policy, ensuring timely and accurate case management records, progress updates, and compliance with contractual requirements.
Build and maintain strong relationships with local employers through outreach, networking, and site visits, identifying workforce needs and opportunities.
Match clients to employer needs by marketing client skills, developing client profiles, and arranging interviews and placements.
Provide individualized support to clients including resume development, interview preparation, job search strategies, and employment coaching.
Facilitate group and one-on-one workshops focused on employment readiness, essential skills, and career development.
Support job retention and career growth by offering follow-up coaching to both clients and employers, and by resolving workplace issues when required.
Track and share labour market information with staff, employers, and clients to inform service delivery and job-matching strategies.
Represent WorkBC at community events, job fairs, and business association meetings to enhance visibility and employer partnerships.
Contribute to curriculum development and program delivery that align with local labour market trends.
Perform other duties as required, including supporting colleagues or undertaking work related to other roles as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Post-secondary certificate, degree, or diploma in a relevant field (e.g., career or employment development, vocational rehabilitation, social work, psychology, sociology, human services, counseling, education, or human resources management) preferred.
Career Development Practice Certificate Program (CCDP designation) is an asset.
2 years preferred experience in the employment sector as follows:
Experience in coaching and mentoring clients, working with individuals with complex barriers, and building partnerships with employers and community agencies.
Demonstrated experience in marketing clients to employers, including specialized population clients, and explaining benefits to employers.
Experience in delivering workshops and employment readiness training.
Experience with Ministry and online tools such as ICM and other employment services
A combination of relevant work experience and education will be considered.
Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and flexibility to work in different locations within the District of Kent, Village of Harrison Hot Springs and surrounding areas.
Pass a Criminal Record Check for Vulnerable Populations (PIC).
JOB SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with individuals facing barriers to employment.
Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse caseload while meeting deadlines.
Strong diplomacy, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in digital literacy, including Microsoft Office and web conferencing tools (e.g., Zoom, Teams).
Understanding of confidentiality and professional conduct
Preferred Skills and Experience
Knowledge of the local labour market, community resources, and government programs.
Ability to work outside standard business hours if necessary.
Comfort and proficiency with social media for professional and employer engagement.
Experience with Ministry and online tools such as ICM and other employment services.
Proficiency in French and/or other languages in addition to English considered an asset.
RATE OF PAY: $29.17 PER HOUR
OTHER:
oThree (3) weeks' vacation annually.
oEligible for benefits package (dental, vision, pharmaceutical coverage, paraprofessional) after 3 months.
