The Employment Case Specialist plays a vital role in connecting individuals with meaningful employment opportunities. This position focuses on supporting clients, particularly those with developmental disabilities and autism, by providing guidance through the job search process and facilitating their integration into the workforce. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of employment and labor laws, as well as experience in workforce development, mentoring, and training.
Duties
Work with the program team to achieve 400 program targets.
Enter participant information into system programs and database systems such as CAMS.
Research and gathers statistics for quarterly report submissions,
Develop and implement individualized care plans and/or Employment Action Plans.
Coordinate with service providers to ensure comprehensive care.
Engage the participant, as appropriate, to actively participate in job development activities, ensuring they are kept informed of progress.
Identify possible employer prospects within the participant's "employment" community.
Monitor client progress and adjust care plans as needed.
Develop and implement a Employment Action Plan based on the Common Assessment Tool.
Advocate for clients' needs and rights.
Maintain detailed and accurate records.
Assist clients in accessing community resources and services.
Facilitate communication between clients and service providers.
Conduct regular follow-up meetings with clients.
Provide Case Management, as assigned by the team, to monitor and revise each person's Employment Action Plan and provide Career Counseling.
Refer participants to other community programs/services for elements of the Employment Action Plan that the Hutton House program does not offer, but is essential to the success of the individual e.g. daycare, personal counseling/support services etc.
Develop a Job Coaching plan for participants who will require onsite support or where natural support (i.e. mentor) are available and the employer requires consultation to develop an understanding of the participant's support requirements.
Provide facilitation of employment readiness workshops as required.
Ensure the participant receives appropriate orientation and training by the employer including the completion of required documentation.
Provide support to the participant to learn/do the job eg. demonstrations, checklists/task analysis.
Reduce or fade out onsite support as the participant consistently demonstrates competency.
Provide employment counseling to the participant to address issues pertaining to job retention e.g. social skills, absenteeism, productivity, and problem solving.
Review and obtain signatures regarding the Employment Services Privacy Policy.
Develop a follow-up plan with the employee and employer to address any concerns or changes in job requirements including the collection of pay statements.
Ensure the necessary support for work experience and employment placements
Experience
Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly desirable.
Knowledge of employment and labor laws relevant to workforce development is essential.
Background in social work, addiction counseling, or related fields is a plus.
Strong interviewing, mentoring, and recruiting skills are necessary for successful client engagement.
Experience in teaching or training individuals in professional settings will be beneficial.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations. This position requires a dedicated individual who is passionate about empowering others through employment opportunities while fostering an inclusive work environment.
