Emergency Medicine PhysicianPOSITION DESCRIPTION:Our client in Moncton, New Brunswick is actively seeking locum/permanent full-time Emergency Medicine Physicians to fill immediate and upcoming needs. Successful candidates will be expected to work clinically in the Department of Emergency Medicine at The Moncton Hospital and will also participate in educational and CPD programs, with opportunities to teach within Dalhousie University, Faculty of Medicine.Clinical excellence, an interest in teaching the health care professions and a keen interest to work effectively on interdisciplinary teams involving all levels of health care providers are essential attributes in our growing, collegial environment.FACILITY:Our client is one of the largest health-care organizations in Atlantic Canada, operating 12 hospitals and more than 100 medical facilities, clinics and offices providing medical services ranging from acute care to community-based health services to New Brunswick, northern Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. With 1,000 physicians, an annual budget exceeding $1 billion and approximately 13,000 employees. It is a major referral hospital serving communities across New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and northern Nova Scotia. It is a level II Trauma Centre which offers tertiary services in neurosurgery, oncology and neonatal care and includes all other major services and subspecialties.The Hospital offers excellent opportunities for teaching and clinical research and has academic affiliation with Dalhousie University. The hospital is one of the largest employers within metro Moncton, employing 3,000 staff and physicians.HOURS OF WORK:Hours of work are agreed upon by the physician and the Clinical Department Head. Currently, full-time hours of approximately 20-30 hours/week and/or 12-15 shifts/month are available.JOB DUTIES:The following outlines the basic responsibilities. Additional duties may be assigned from time to time as may be necessary to the operation of the department:Participate in clinical care and on-call responsibilities as defined by your department.Participate in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate medical learners.Participate in medical practice that is compatible with the Health Authority\'s mission, values and strategic directions, as well as departmental expectations.REMUNERATION:Remuneration for Emergency Physicians is sessional at the rate of $231.58/hour and is a direct compensation between the physician and Medicare of New Brunswick. No source deductions can be provided.INCENTIVES:Moving expenses as per the provincial policyRecruitment incentives for new physicians and medical residents as per the provincial program guidelines (based on approval from the Department of Health)QUALIFICATIONS:A medical degree is required.Certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Emergency Medicine (FRCPC); or College of Family Physicians of Canada - Emergency Medicine (CCFP-EM); or College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) with a willingness to obtain a certificate of added competence (CAC) in Emergency Medicine; ABEM; FRCEM, or equivalent.Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick.Maintain malpractice insurance from the Canadian Medical Protective Agency (CMPA) appropriate to the category of practice.Candidates must be eligible for an academic appointment from Dalhousie University.Current or previous certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).Proficiency in English is required.
