Description:

As an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), you will transport ill or injured patients from scenes of emergency and/or between facilities. This includes operating ambulances or other modes of transportation; assessing emergency scenes and patients; providing simple treatments and completing required documentation including patient care reports. You will assist with ensuring that ambulances or other Emergency Medical Services (EMS) vehicles, such as non-emergent transport (NET), are properly stocked and equipped.

Required Qualifications:

Non-restricted registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACoP) as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) issue by Heart and Stroke. Must be able to obtain a valid Class 4 Alberta Operator Licence, or equivalent, and a current five (5) year driver\xc2\xbfs abstract - within six (6) months with no more than six (6) demerits prior to commencing of employment. Must provide proof of certificate of successful completion of Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test by the Lifemark, or an approved equivalent test, prior to receiving an offer of employment - applicable to all applicants, including AHS employees who do not hold a clinical position within AHS EMS (VESST, Clinical Educator, EMR, PCP, ACP and Community Paramedic). Additional Required Qualifications:

Graduate of an Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP) Emergency Medical Responder-approved program. Additional Preferred Qualifications: Completion of post-secondary education (i.e.- Doctorate, Master\'s, Bachelor\'s Degree; Diploma) Additional Education (AHS or Non-AHS-related courses or certificates excluding AHS mandatory training) Leadership experience (i.e.- Supervisory work, Instructor, committee work, Speciality Teams, Clinical Educator, Union Representative) Experience working in an EMR role. Currently enrolled in a Primary Care Paramedic program. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a Suburban Rural or Metro Emergency environment. Experience working in an Interfacility Transport environment. Volunteer experience. Ride along, practicum or Industrial experience. Current AHS employee working in a health care role.
