Position Overview:
As an Embedded Software Team Leader, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing embedded software systems for Damon’s embedded systems. Active participation in defining the software and hardware interfaces and requirements is expected, as well as working with product management and customers to shape our products. Also, a significant component of this role will include team mentorship, coaching, leadership, and guidance for the individuals on the entire software team. A person with high EQ and diligence with deep insights into the team and culture is essential.

Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, prototype, implement, test and document embedded software systems.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems in innovative ways.
  • Work with Product Management to define the product requirements and ensure customer needs are being met.
  • Estimate timelines and provide risk assessments for planning and tracking work.
  • Provide feedback for continuous improvement of processes.
  • Guide team development efforts towards successful project delivery
  • Willingness to step up and help out when necessary, at all levels of project delivery
  • Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits and keeping them up to date with the industry.
  • Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team.
  • Participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code.
  • Assist with the quantitative and qualitative project status analysis and provide updates weekly to the management team

Job Requirements:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent discipline.
  • 10+ years’ experience in automotive firmware development in C or C++.
  • Experience developing software for Linux and/or RTOS and/or bare-metal systems.
  • Experience with hardware/software integration based on a variety of interfaces and protocols.
  • Experience with hardware lab tools (oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, etc.).
  • Experience with software development tools and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • A proven track record in either management or leadership is essential
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback to managers regarding the members on the team.
  • Ability to work with individual software developers to improve their hard and soft skills.
  • Travel may be required.

Desired:
  • Experience in system architecture designs.
  • Experience solving cybersecurity issues.
  • Familiarity with AUTOSAR.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB.
  • Experience with CAN, ethernet, UDS, MQTT.
  • Motorcycle riding experience.
