Position Overview
We are seeking a visionary and dedicated School Principal to lead Al Bushra Elementary School. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in educational leadership, a commitment to Islamic values, and the ability to inspire and manage a team of educators. The Principal will play a crucial role in shaping the academic and spiritual environment of the school, ensuring that students receive a high-quality education that integrates Islamic teachings.
Eligibility Requirements
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment.
International students are not eligible.
Possess a valid social insurance number (SIN) at the start of employment.
Be legally entitled to work in Canada according to provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1) Leadership & School Management
Provide clear strategic directions to implement the school's vision.
Lead daily school operations in alignment with Ontario educational policies and Islamic values.
Build and foster a collaborative, supportive, and positive team culture among staff and teachers.
Promote professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Support staff through coaching, mentorship, and performance development.
Oversee school safety, policies, and emergency preparedness.
Build strong, trusting relationships with teachers and staff, ensuring they feel supported, valued, and heard.
Promote a culture where teachers can grow, collaborate, and share ideas openly.
2) Curriculum, Instruction & Islamic Education
Ensure all academic programs align with Ontario curriculum standards.
Strengthen the school's Islamic learning and integrate Islamic values across subjects and student life.
Support teachers in creating engaging, age-appropriate, and inquiry-based lesson plans.
Monitor and evaluate instructional practices to promote excellence in teaching and learning.
Lead professional development initiatives for both academic and Islamic studies staff.
3) Student & Community Engagement
Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful school culture rooted in Islamic character.
Support student behavior, well-being, and social-emotional development.
Maintain strong communication with parents and guardians.
Promote a school environment where students feel safe, valued, and motivated.
4) Administrative & Operational Duties
Manage school budgets, resources, and staffing needs effectively.
Oversee student assessments, report cards, and academic tracking.
Ensure compliance with Ministry of Education requirements and school policies.
Lead admissions-related tasks, scheduling, reporting, and record-keeping with accuracy.
Support long-term planning for school growth and improvement
Required Qualifications
An undergraduate post-secondary degree (Bachelor's or equivalent)
Minimum five years of successful classroom teaching experience (elementary or secondary), verified by a supervisory officer
Minimum three years of leadership or administrative experience in an educational setting
Strong understanding of curriculum implementation and instructional best practices
Proven ability to lead teams, resolve conflicts, and build strong, positive staff relationships
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to create an inclusive, equitable, and student-centered school environment
Knowledge of Islamic teachings, values, and child-appropriate Islamic pedagogy
Current Vulnerable Sector Check and First Aid/CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications
A valid teaching certificate
Teaching qualifications in at least three teaching divisions or equivalent
Experience in Islamic education, weekend/after-school programs, or Islamic schools
A master's degree in educational leadership or a related field
